Undoubtedly the very best turkey I ever had the pleasure to devour. My whole family flipped out over how juicy, tender and delicious this bird was. Glad I did 2 of ?em!!

How long do they fry for? I was thinking about getting one of those for the rents on Christmas. EDIT: Also what do you do with the all the oil afterwards?

At least you had sense enough to fry it outside so you didn't risk burning the house down.

There are no less than 200 fried turkey recipes on the web... All different times and methods. It's really so easy that nobody can agree on one time/temp/method because they all seem to work. Now that I've done 2 turkeys this awesome way, I have my own method!:)
I'll give you simple guidelines:
Inject the turkey with "Cajun Injectors Creole Butter Marinade" 24 hours before cooking. Heat the peanut oil to 350F, slowly lower in your towel-dried turkey. Stick a SECOND thermometer past the leg joint and into the center of the breast. Keep the oil as close to 350F as possible, NO HOTTER. Remove the turkey when the breast thermometer reads 160F and immediately wrap it in foil. Cooking time is approximately 3 minutes per pound!!!! Let it stand 20-30 minutes before carving.
The oil can be re-used to cook 4 or 5 turkeys over a period of 6 months (sometimes longer). Store it in its original container in a cool or cold place (best to freeze it).
This was an expensive thanksgiving...
Eastman Outdoors Fryer - $70 Propane & Tank - $30 35 pounds Peanut Oil, Marinade & Injector (including shipping) - $89 Apron - $20 (that was just a "must have") Battery operated oil filter/pump (for easy clean-up) - $28
So that's $217 (not incuding the apron) plus sales tax, plus the turkey.
Next year I'll see if I can find 35# peanut oil locally to save on the shipping.
The experience, praise, and total elation of eating such a tender, juicy, flavorful turkey was WELL WORTH EVERY PENNY!!

Yes. We too fry our turkeys...verrrrry good. And no, it's not greasy. The oil cooks the outside, but the meat is nice and juicy and not greasy.

I love the crunchy skin off a deep-fried turkey. My gramma hated me 'cause I ate the skin off the whole turkey.

I love fried turkey, though I don't inject mine since the marinades burn the skin and make it inedible. I usually just season with a dry spice mix beneath the skin and let that marinate overnight.

I didn't have that problem at all. The skin was delicious!

I got it at a local place called "Backyard Barbeque"
Go to www.eastmanoutdoors.com to find a dealer near you.
I did a lot of looking/shopping around and comparing quality of fryers. Eastman Outdoors is, without a doubt, the best quality.
There are others. Bayou Classic, King Kooker, Char Broil, etc. but they are mediocre at best.

Have you seen that commercial on TV for Allstate insurance where the adjuster is standing in front of his driveway with a turkey fryer and explaining the statistics of fried turkey mishaps???
I thought it was funny.

No way. If so, you're eating charcoal. Either that or his oil is nowhere near hot enough, in which case, you're drinking oil with your turkey.
The two 14 pounders I did took about 40-45 minutes each.
