Not noticably, and certainly not measurably yet. Even if it were, it would probably take a culture with some shifty potency traits with a VERY low grain ratio before you'd get a real difference.
There are some that are adamant that straw- or manure-based substrates provide a more solidified, even higher, potency. It is a much weaker variable than genetics, all other variables accounted for rightly. But coir certainly would in no way have a direct negative result, nor would any sub.

just hydrate your brick of coir and take a pint or two out to use and store the rest, break the cake up...i use a cheese grater. Violet....i miss fucking with straw a lot but as i get older my allergies get worse as for coffee you certainly can but i would properly pasturize the coffee

I will be using this TEK http://www.shroomery.org/10858/How-to-do-Coir
I guess i just chuck the coffee in with the boiling water, coir and verm to pasturize.
I am a little worried if cheese grate the BRF cake the pieces may be too small? can't i just break it up by hand into relatively large pieces? or i should mimic WBS style of small pieces (like ur suggesting with a cheese grater...)

It means we could grow with only brf agar and straw/manure - essentially free. But we haven't and we aren't. I think that's really all the evidence called for.
I know how to get around this. Although your point would still hold true because I would have to use a nutritious liquid to hydrate the coir. Just think about the starch water in the POM's.

the bucket tek is not proper pasturization and coffee should really be kept between 140-160 for a good pasturizing, damions tek goes above these temps, you can't get the pieces of a cake to small either

So the smaller the better?
anything else i could add in that would be helpful to the substrate? more BRF or something else?

coir coffee gypsum verm is about as good as it gets but if it's additives ya wanna toy with look into better pasturizing methods, the bucket tek is meant for simple cvg

I found the addition of coffee grounds to be a bit tricky. Even with good pasteurisation methods this leads to contamination quicker. Besides, I find coir to be a good substrate as it is.

Perhaps the rumour that coir/verm was a bulk sub that had nutritional issues originated from the fact that moulds are practically unable to colonize it.
Mold will colonize the hell out of coir. What you meant is mold has a hard time germinating on coir. Germination and colonization aren't the same thing.

So....can someone say definitively how small i should be making the BRF cake pieces? Also should i wait for it to be 100% colonized? or?
Ur replies are appreciated, i am gonna make a mini monotub with the BRF cake tomorrow.

There is no need to sterilise, you can just wipe it with alcohol.

yes always wait for 100% colonization of sterile media before introducing it to open air!
