Im a new user on this forum. Been using it for months now but i cant find the right info to my question. Thought id ask just to be sure im not missing anything. So i want to case. Im going to be using fully colonized brf cakes for my spawn. Then rye berries for my bulk substrate. Then verm and peat moss for my casing. So my question is if thats good. And what order to i place them in container. Casing first. Then colonised substrate. Then bulk substrate. Then casing on top. right?

I don't think you can spawn cakes straight to rye berries. if I remember correctly, rye berries have a much larger rate of contamination when used as a bulk spawn due to its high nutrition level. Personally I have spawned 2 or 3 BRF cakes to coir and/or cow manure (not even pasteurized, if you can believe it) and i still ended up with the largest fruits I have ever grown by far. I would spawn to a mix of coir and verm if I were you, very contam resistant.

Yes but it was my understanding that there is no point in casing brf cakes unless its going into a bulk substrate. Becaues unless the mycellium hae something nutritious to colonize, it wont be any different then birthing them as cakes. Is cow manure an exception?

Duh, dude, most of the people that frequent the Pub don't have any idea what you're talking about, especially without one or more of the allotted Shroomery™-style smiley animations. If it ain't a troll thread waiting for derailment, ain't nobody interested.

Anyways, you'll encounter problems using rye as bulk spawn, for instance, imagine leaving a tote full of oatmeal or spaghetti or something out for a few months.. there are a lot of organisms that would colonize it far before the mycelium. You could break up your cakes into small pieces and spawn to straw/ manure.. that's what I'd do. Or coir/ manure, like he said^^

theres some smiles, and thats what im seein on other threads. So now when i spawn to the coir should i case it? And i have 18 half pint jars 9 albino a+ and 9 penis envy uncut. I want to spawn both strains to bulk (seperatly) and if i have any jars left over i want to birth them as cakes. How many jars should i spawn to the coir.

I would use a 2:3 ratio of spawn to coir.
And casing wouldn't hurt.
