Azures with mold..still good??
    #2142349 - 11/28/03 04:38 PM (13 years, 3 months ago)

I had left a few azures out that I didn't dry corectly and some white mold started growing on them. Are they still good, or should I play it safe and toss them?

There is actually very little mold on them. I am thinking about maybe cutting it off.

Well why ask us?
It's a judgement call really...
I have eaten a stem that was COVERED in green and felt nothing of it..
Another time I ate one that smelled a tiny bit off and was vomiting for the rest of that day(bacteria)

Take the chance or not, if you get sick you have nobody to blame but yourself
And with that, good luck! I hope you don't get ill if you choose to munch it

Why not plant them? You can get hardwood chips from cabinet shops-they give bags full of them away. Put them outside, water them good, and mix in the moldy shrooms. Maybe next year some will grow if you water them over the summer. Two places I planted last year are producing, although very slowly.

that is dangerous, not to mention wholly inaccurate.
many of the less common bread molds can be seriously pathogenic to humans, and most molds produce substances taht can cause dangerous allergic reactions in many people [ie. penicilium].

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.
