Made some flow charts for BRF, Agar and LC

Hey guys, So I made these up more so to help my self but someone might find them useful. I will be adding more flow charts as I learn more (such as for WBS Jars etc)
I idea behind this flow chart is that you have already read over the appropriate teks. This is more of a guide line to follow so that you don't have to keep trying to find the appropriate paragraph in a document of whatever tek you are doing.
Feedback is very welcome

I wouldn't bother with fractional sterilization for agar. However, you can just steam it in a pot like pf-cakes.
looks like you have things figured out, though. and I like the way you did it visually with a mind-map. I've used them a lot before in my design work to help visualize your process.

I am a software developer so I tend to make a lot of charts to figure things out haha. Thanks for your feedback.
So you are saying that I can sterilize agar like like I would for PF-Cakes? Should the water come up further on the jars then it does for PF Tek. Also how long? Would half hour be suffice.

water should be below the jars. I elevate my base with levels of jar bands and then a sheet of aluminum foil.
I don't know of any solid facts to give you for steaming agar. I've done it personally for 2 hours and it worked. That was probably overkill. Maybe start with an hour or more to be on the safe side.

when you sterilize even PF jars the steam is what does the sterilization. it's fine if the water comes up the side of the jars a bit but for agar cakes grain jars etc... the water in your steamer or PC shouldn't be more than half way up the side of anything.

So what is the general opinion on Sterilizing Agar or LC in a large pot? I rarely see a pot given as an option in most of those tek's

most people never fucked around with not using a PC so why write it into the tek unless you had fist hand experience. you really should just pony up and buy a sterilizer or a PC. it takes less time, agar is easy to sterilize though 30m steam should be sufficient for a 500ml bottle.

Yeah... he's thinking of the making of the agar. Heating it up in a pot before sterilization helps dissolve so of the solids left after mixing.
You do need to pressure cook agar bottles for 40 min at 15psi.

20m at 15psi is the longest I have ever gone with agar. I usually do 15m and that's with 1 or 2 500ml bottles

I plan on buying a PC soon, decent sized ones with gauges are expensive though, so I am just saving up my pennies.
So sterlizing Agar or LC using a large pot is ok but it just takes longer?

I would go at least 30m with steam. I have used steamed agar and even steamed LC before I think I did 45m or something. 30 should be enough. I always just use the PC for 15m

Awesome, I fully intend on switching to PC once the funds come in. I am actually going for an interview this week for a new job
