Zea is a genus of plants in the grass family. The best-known species is Z. mays, variously called maize or corn or Indian corn, one of the most important crops for human societies over much of the world. Several wild species are commonly known as teosintes and are native to Mesoamerica.

They're the same genus not the same species. By your logic amanita muscaria and amanita phalloides are the same thing. Again showing that you have no idea about biology.

In biology genus comes above species and below family. ie. zea mays and zea perrenis are two species in the zea genus and belong to the Poaceae family.

Teosintes are wild grasses in the zea genus. Corn is zea mays, an edible grass in the Zea genus. A grass is anything in the Poaceae family.

There are no transitional fossils! I love that video

No man, evolution is real. Biological evolution, geological evolution, stellar evolution, all that stuff is real.
You can't see it directly, because this shit takes a very long time. But it can be seen indirectly.

Now listen, don't dismiss this because it doesn't fit with your believes!
First we got the fossils, yeah? They show plants and animals that went extinct a long time ago.
Now some of these fossils have anatomy that resembles living species, but is different. That made people think.
Read this now: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transitional_fossil

Before that, there was comparative anatomy, and lo and behold: it fitted with the fossils.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparative_anatomy

Then we have carbon dating, allowing people to figure out how old these fossils are. Now, it turned out that the age of many of these transitional fossils correlated directly with what was predicted by palaeontologists and anatomists.
Read this now:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radiocarbon_dating

And then they figured this stuff out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molecular_clock
And AGAIN it correlated with previous data.

This is a very simplified version of how people proved the evolution of life on earth. If you want to know more, I got some books I can recommend to you.

But this is not about if it's real or not, is it? This is about your believes, and your desire to be right.
Believe what you must, but truth is truth, and no creationist has ever come with any shred of evidence.

Please answer my question then why are there still lizards, fish, monkeies, apes, iguanas and so on? If Evolution occurs naturally why didn't all those animals evolve, why are they still around? It's a huge loophole in the theory imo.If you answer this scientifically reasonable, I will consider thinking differently on the matter.

Also there is evidence of noah's ark being real, the great flood actually happening.

I feel they (jews, muslims, christians) Knew there was a creator but explained it how they precieved it with what we now consider a mentally barbaric perspective. I believe god created the ig bang and no one can change that in my mind.

If you're talking to me the video was a joke.  I just think it is a great portrayal the guy just keeps saying shit like that again and again even though it makes no sense.  Trying to disprove evolution when you don't understand science is always a joke.  I don't know what the trend is now with creationism on the shroomery.  There was a time when there'd be a million threads on Atheism, but now a few people just seem set on being Christian fundamentalists, which I don't get.

Of course evolution isn't a lie.  It is a well thought out theory.  The Bible, now that is something questionable right therr.

Oh, I am sorry. I genuinely thought you where just kidding around.

To answer your question: it is still occurring. It's a natural force like any other, and it won't stop until there is no more life left.
Now, we don't observe it happening in front of our eyes, but that is to be expected. Evolution is a very slow process, taking hundreds of thousands to millions of years. We live, what, 78 years or so? No chance.

Did that answer your question? And do you have any other?

Yeah I've never asked this question because I know the basics of evolution not at length and it baffles me that every living species including us will one day be completely different.

Yeah a little, so evolution takes a long time. I understand that dinosaurs evolved into what we know as birds and reptiles but are you saying that the human species will eventually evolve into a different creature altogether or die off as a species? Also will all animals become neanderthals and eventually humans and we will be like sentient beings?

I hope you're kidding. Transitional fossils have been discovered and a very important discovery of a transitional skull was recently published in the NY Times.

Dinosaurs did come from some reptiles, and some dinosaurs slowly changed into what we now call birds, yes. Mammals, too, came from reptiles.
The reptiles are in fact a very diverse group, and not nearly as unified as mammals and birds are. They are also much older.

Human evolution goes on as well, but as of yet it is impossible to make any sort of predictions about what lies in the future. There are simply too many variables to take into account.

No animal will ever become a Neanderthal, as they where a unique species of hominid that sadly went extinct at the end of the last ice age, although their genes are still alive in many modern humans.

If you are asking if other animals might one day become sentient beings, then that is perfectly possible, as long as it offers an advantage to the species.
It could be argued that there are many sentient species alive right now, too.
Think of apes, crows, dolphins and other animals that use tools and solve complex problems with their brains.
Maybe one day a civilization will arise from an animal like that, but they will not be human. And it probably will not happen as long as humans dominate the planet like we do.
I guess we were lucky to be the first...

Now, think about what makes us civilized. If you get right down to it, the most important tools we had to claw to the top of the food chain are our social groups, symbolic language, meta-tool using (Using tools to make better tools) and fire. And even when all these elements where in place, it took a very long time before villages started appearing.

Oy Vey.  This thread makes my head hurt.

As far as I'm concerned, evolution=fact.

But everyone is entitled to their own beliefs.
