I Got A Bucket Of Cow Shit!
    #2141136 - 11/27/03 09:17 PM (20 years, 2 months ago)

My brother lives on a farm and he brought me up a 5 gallon bucket of cow shit fresh from the ass of the cow.

Well I have never used poo before, And I'm really a germ freak (a slight OCD thing going on) I'm just going to fill pint jars with the shit then PC for 1hr. once I have about 10 pints im going to take the 10 pints, some pasteurized straw and some colonized WBS mix them all together and case in verm.

How does this sound? Any modifications I should do?

your tek seems unecessarily tedious and messy. First, lay the poo out on a tarp to leach and dry out (if it is in fact fresh from the cow's ass) for a week or so. Then (and out of respect for your OCD) break up the poo chunks and mix with some cut straw and/or sterile verm, then add some water, pack into oven bags and pasteurize in the oven (The oven pasteurization tek is definitely on the site, do a search or search the FAQ's) Just make sure you don't over-pasteurize (you'll know because you're whole house will smell like earthy vegetation) if done properly there's hardly any noticable odor. Let it cool and spawn with colonized substrate. Case, fruit and enjoy.

Yeah I have read all the teks. I cant dry the poo because it will freeze outside. I'm way the hell up north, And this is some fresh ass poo. I don't mind if what I'm going to do is "tedious" I enjoy doing this stuff i consider it a hobby, it takes my mind off things. I just need to know if yall think it will work. I see no problems. I have done something similar with straw that I grounded in the blender.
Is 10 pints going to be enough?

I think packing the poo into pints (or quarts, but if pints are all you have, then whatever) and pcing would raise the temp of the poo too high and kill a lot of the beneficial bacteria that would ward off contams.

But hey, give it a shot.

do NOT pc your poo...plus you have too leech it to get all the amonia out of it...fresh poo=SHITTY(pardon the pun), gotta leech it somehow and then PASTURISE...not sterilise
