lids loose or tight when PCing- urgent

I'm about to pc some quart grain jars and lc.
The grain jar lids have a GE 5/16" hole covered by a filter disc rtv'd to the top
the LC lid just as a 13mm syringe filter for GE
Do I need to leave the lids loose while pressure cooking or can I tighten them?

Doesn't matter, just don't put them on so tight that you can't get them off later.

In my experience it doesn't matter. But +1 on greencrush, if you make them too tight, they will be a bitch to get off. So, in short, snug.

Don't crank them down but tighten them enough they aren't rattling around.

I always tightened it down with no issues using synthetic filter discs...I did read that LOAF leaves his loose until after because of staining from grain cooking or something like that...

i stopped using plastic lids. they never did me wrong that i know of, but i just am suspicious of them if u see pics where i have plastic lids, its old ones. its not really the plastic itself, its the RTV/silicone. i trust plastic lid with hole and whole SFD underneath it more than i trust plastic lids with cut up SFD silicone/RTV on top. regardless, i just use metal now. to each their own though.
