Orbitropic Cultivation.
    #2140891 - 11/27/03 09:30 PM (13 years, 15 days ago)

I was wondering if orbitropic cultivation of 'shrooms has ever been documented or theorized? If not, it is now!

For an example of orbitropic cultivation, people should check out these pictures: http://www.omegagarden.com/omegagardengallery3/gallery.html

Obviously, the organisms rotate around a single light source, thereby manipulating gravity's effects to produce altered results than normal growth. It is a very rapidly expanding technique in marijuana cultivation right now.

I was contemplating using something like http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat...true#Post531789 ...only making a circle frame (as in the 1st link) with a light source I would keep on around 5hrs. a day (could easily change).
I would create a sort of greenhouse around the structure to maintain humidity, temperature, etc.

I was wondering if this sounds promising to any one? ...or destined to doom?

Mushrooms benefit from slow changes in environment, that's why we alter temperature, light & humidity to induce pinning and it's an old tek to initiate shiitake growing by hitting inoculated logs with a hammer.

I don't know what results to expect, but it sounds like an interesting experiment. If you know how to make such a thing then go for it.

Thanks, I figured the same thing, zeronio. It's hard to say it would have no beneficial effects w/o it ever having been tested.

My only problem is keeping the casing layers from falling out of the cases when it is upside down or near to it. I pm'ed Suntzu (http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=Forum4&Number=531789&Forum=All_Forums&Words=upside&Match=Entire%20Phrase&Searchpage=0&Limit=25&Old=allposts&Main=531789&Search=true#Post531789) and he said some of it did fall out of his experiment and it was hard to maintain, and new screening technique would be advised.

I am definitely gonna try it within the months to come, I just need to finish designing the complete structure.

Great for pot, but kinda useless for shroomin'. There is the mess, plus the benefits of an "omega" garden, just don't benefit fungus growth, it's good for the greens only IMO.
