Coir Trays and Mini Monotub
    #21408316 - 03/14/15 06:25 PM (9 years, 2 months ago)

Hey!

I have 9 pints of fully colonized wbs and I want to do bulk spawn. Each jar is filled about 1/2 to 2/3 full so i guess I really have 4 - 5 pints. I want to coir trays but I can't find any clear instructions on how to do them. Could someone please post a link a coir tray tutorial/instructions?

Also, I was looking into possibly doing a mini monotub.
Would you recommend that I do that instead?

Thanks!

P.S. This is my first time doing bulk.

Spawning to bulk is really easy, that's why you don't see much on it. Basicly you prep your substrate and then just mix the grain up in it. Pretty simple. The hard part is if your using poo or something that requires proper pasteurization. But if your using coir its too easy, just bucket it or PC it and let cool. Then mix it up in the mono or tray. If your using an aluminum tray you may want to line it with a trash bag first, then cut away the excess. You might consider doing the same with a mono. Then either tape the holes on the mono or cover the tray with foil and leave it alone till its done.

This link is a write up discussing mini mono's, configurations, and a few other aspects of them.

Very good link as well! ^^ it depends on whether you want to put all your eggs in one basket or divide up your spawn into multiple trays. That way if one contams your not losing a whole tub and left with very minimal output. Its preference though.

Fuck yeah this helps with my issue too! I have apparently mini mono and I now know why my tub isn't producing condasation. Too big/many holes
