Colonization stalled at 2-3 weeks, now at week 7 (pics)
    #21405470 - 03/14/15 09:25 AM (9 years, 2 months ago)

This is my first grow. My cakes were looking good until around week 3, at which point they inexplicably stalled with only a little colonization. It's now week 7 and I'm ready to give up and start again - before I do that, is there any way I can rescue these suckers?

One of the cakes did a lot better than the rest and now has a pins, but it's not fully colonized. What are my options with this one?

Help appreciated!

It looks really wet. And since its the bottom not colonizing, I would bet that they are just too water logged. Which means they are probably bacteria-laden.
How much spore solution did you use?
Tell us how you mixed, how much. We need more info please.

I would start fresh and follow the PFtek to a T.

Thanks for the reply!

I followed the PF Tek real close, I don't remember the exact quantities but my ratios were good. I ended up with 17 jars.

The only thing I screwed up on is using too much spore solution for the first 4 jars (2.5ml each rather than 1ml) which meant I had to ration out the remaining spore solution for the remaining 13 jars. I used two 10ml vials . I didn't think this would matter too much, but I guess it did.

Live and learn! on to the next one

Pf tek ratio 2parts verm 1part h20  1part brf then make sure its at field capacity by grabbing a hand full and squeeze it. It should barely stream for 1-2 seconds an then drip. Add a little verm if its too wet. also make sure you leave the foil off so your contam barrier can dry and don't tilt your jars while colonizing.
