please read the mushroom hunting FAQ. it really does go into great detail on many of the most importasnt aspects of hunting for psilocybian mushrooms. it tells you what species you can find in your area, and gives a description for many species, including [i believe] Pansaeolus subbalteatus, the only active species you are likely to find. you will want to read as many other descriptions and writups for this species as you can find, to better familiarize yourself with the habitat, season, appearance, growth habbits, and such for it.

you can also find articals, reports and similar at MJ's site, some with specific regaurd to this species.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.
