about to pasteurize some horse poo using RR's TEK! I am getting my poo ground up an adding the dry ingredients(verm an gypsum)then getting to field moisture and gonna steam boil to 160 an 140 farenheit for an hour. gonna then after its cool use a 1:2 spawn:horse poo in a filter patch bag. should I add coco coir substrate? making it 1:1:2 spawn:coco coir:horse poo? any suggestions would be cool! Thanks everyone!

Coco coir is mainly a substitute for people that cant get there hands on horse poo naturally. Horse poo is widely considered the best for bulk substrates

I disagree. Coir is great mixed with poo. Has lots of cellulose & lingnin and provides a really nice texture. Cubes seem to really like a diverse substrate so if your doing poo and need to proper pasteurize anyway, I like to add all kinds of stuff. Worm castings, straw, grass clippings, etc. Just be sure that any high nitrogen ingredients like worm castings or coffee are kept around 5% of the substrate composition. Much higher than that and you risk having a hot sub.

I agree with pasty here. Adding coir couldn't hurt and really creates a nice texture. Of course I've used straight hpoo and got good results as well. Its kind of sort of like growing vegetables organically. Your consuming what you put in the soil so you might as well have a broad range of nutrients and vitamins available to them.
