is there any specific part of the mushroom that is more potent than another? ie the cap vs. the stem? thanks

If there is I don't think anyone could discern the effects between consuming a cap and a stem. I'll make it easy: NO.

A lot of people of "offer" shrooms like to tell people that the caps are the best and what not; whatever, it all just to favor their pockets.

You could always eat a bag of stems, then on another date eat a bag (equal weight) of caps. That would be a method to decide the better. Thats just to much work though hehe.
Personally, I've noticed any differnce between the two. They both get me where I want to be... but I never did the afore mentioned method to test it out.
