Anxious Tripper

As the title of this thread says, I am a very anxious tripper. When it comes to mushrooms as well as pretty much any other psychedelic. I have had 2CI, Acid, Shrooms, LSA, etc.. and every time I trip I have such anxious thoughts that at one point I was fearful that my internal organs had something wrong with them. I would sit in my chair that I designated as my chill spot and I would just be hanging out with my girlfriend and my roommate. I kept fearing that an internal organ would rupture or something of that nature would happen. It was the beginning of all my bad trips. Ever since then, even an eighth of mushrooms terrifies me even just thinking about consuming them makes me afraid that I will have something bad happen during the trip which inadvertently causes me to have a bad and worrisome trip. I do not blame the 2CI or Shrooms for this. Rather I believe its because I associate every trip now with the feelings of fear and worry I had on 2CI because that was such an intense and terrifying experience that I fear all psychedelics will be that way.  When I am around people while tripping, I am spending most of my time trying to think of something to say because I am overwhelmed by social interaction. I stay in my head a lot of the time as it is. I read a lot and have a select few friends that I associate with. Even with those friends around me I get this way. SO I decided that from this point on trips are to be done in private. Private meaning with my girlfriend or by myself. I have never been afraid that the mushrooms are hurting my internal organs like with 2CI but I still notice this aversion to the mushrooms that I have thats due to my fear of feeling like I felt on 2CI.

I ate an eighth of mushrooms a few weeks ago and watched anime and that went pretty well. I felt pretty great and all but I kept feeling like I was BURNING UP. I would feel my skin and it would be really hot but I would feel cold or something. I felt very feverish but when that feeling went away everything got tons better. But at one point after eating the mushrooms I felt the need to vomit. I ate them with Nutella though. I have tried lemon tek as well but lemon tek just felt strange consuming. Would anyone know of a way to lessen these anxious feelings that arise now? I was thinking maybe consuming them a different way but cant think of anything. I dont want to lessen the effects I would feel. I want the same effects I would get from eating them dry. I would appreciate any help with this or if anyone has anything they would like to tell me about, maybe you have had experiences like this and resolved them. I want my trips to be peaceful and joyous. I cant learn from them while fearing them too. I have the utmost respect for the mushroom so dont doubt that I do not take this lightly. :mushroom2:

Sure, don't EAT them, make tea this way.  No nausea provided you do it on an empty stomach.  And possibly, tripping alone.  And the usual, meditation. 

Feelings of heat and cold are very common with mushrooms, just stay warm and there's nothing to worry about. :thumbup:

Would an eighth of cubes made with the tea tek be worth it? I mean what are the typical feelings with an eighth of shrooms and tea? I appreciate you responding. I dont like that these learning experiences are being denied to me because I worry too much and/or get sick to my stomach. I am just wanting the happiness and deep thoughts, any visuals are a great plus. haha thanks for the help!

And I'm not sure what you mean by asking "What are the typical feelings with an eighth of shrooms and tea? " . "Feelings" have everything to do with you. The psychedelic-effects from making a tea is absolutely no different than eating them, the come up is usually quicker than eating them and the peak will likely start to taper down sooner.....but, it will also likely be much easier on the stomach, and when one is more physically comfortable their "feels" tends to be less anxious.

Realize there is an interplay, a big relationship & feedback between the way one feels physically and the way one feels emotionally/cognitively. Feeling anxious and nervous can trigger one to feel nausea, tension, cramps, headaches, and just a general shitty body load...it's called psychosomatic response and I believe this is where a lot of negative body loads come from for some people.

A perfect example of this was when a few friends and I all took a single tab of good LSD while camping. It was one of my friends first time with a good dose of any psychedelic and he was very anxious and nervous from beginning to end, he couldn't let go and seemed to be stuck in a perpetual rut of anxiety. He said he was felt very cold, tense and cramps, nauseated, and like crap in general. While I on the other hand, I felt awash in warmth, my body felt light and "airy", tingles of bliss, felt like I was getting tickled by the universe. We took the same exact dose in the same exact setting, yet his anxiety made him feel physically-ill, while I was on cloud 9 :bliss: .


On the flip side, there are certainly some natural physical side-effects from the classic psychedelics and an upset stomach isn't uncommon from eating mushrooms raw, and so it can go the other way as well...a heavy body load in the first place doesn't make for the most pleasant head space.

That's something you're going to have to work on yourself from the day to day, it's a process. There is no magical trick for easing the anxiety you experience, only you can get down to the root of it.

Meditate. Learn to quiet your mind. Learn to keep your thoughts in check, don't let them wonder about fueled by anxiety convincing you of things like "your organs are going to rupture" (also educate yourself on the basics of what these psychedelics are doing in our bodies, and how they're quite safe physically).

Take a relaxing bath before taking the mushrooms or during the come up. Stretch at some points during the trip.

Believe you me, I know plenty about the effects of psilocybin on the body however, I am sure that everyone gets the thoughts like,  what if I am the first to have something happen? or what if I have a diathesis toward a certain physical problem and the mushrooms trigger it?

I tend to, when around people, always feel pressured to talk so when I get to the thick of the trip I start feeling anxiety about other peoples thoughts. But yes I agree the feelings are personal yet I do know that there are some overall to be expected experiences when it comes to taking any psychedelic. I simply wanted to know the more common feelings associated with dosing an eighth of shrooms in tea.

Is it possible to simply, add lemon juice to an eighth of grinded up shrooms stir this a few times for around 30 minutes then pour the lemon tek'd shrooms into a tea that has been premade and cooling in the fridge?

Is there a way this would work or is there a way to make shroom tea with a Keurig coffee maker by using only the hot water from that and having the grinded up dose in the bottom of a coffee cup.

Put the grinded shrooms in the bottom of the coffee cup.

let lemon juice sit in the bottom of the cup for a while with the grinded up shrooms stirring occasionally.

After stirring occasionally for around 20 minutes, turn the coffee maker on and allow the hot water to pour over the lemon juice and shroom powder.

Then when the water is done pouring into the cup, add tea bag of choosing and stir until you are done with the tea bag.

Remove tea bag and drink the tea, shroom powder and all?


Would that work just as effectively?

The chitin that mushrooms use in their cell walls is what can cause nausea, it's an allergen. Cooking and filtering is the best way to minimize it.

The anxiety may dissipate if allowed to unfold, provided there isn't an environmental cause. There is a feedback loop between wanting to feel good and rejecting anxious states. Feel the physical sensations of anxiety instead of trying to think your way out of them, treat them with a welcoming attitude. The body can be a powerful tool for processing emotion.

Tea made right is every bit as potent then eating them, but the duration is a bit less as the comeup is much quicker.  I don't do specific amounts (a typical dose for me would be tea from 50g fresh fruits) and individual susceptibility varies so you want to experiment to find your own best dosage.  But mushrooms are not necessarily gonna give you what you want but they will often give you what you need.

These sound more like interpersonal issues than anything specifically related to psychedelics.  I guess you know that though. :shrug: When you trip having no expectations and no agenda is helpful.

Personally, i thinking eating the shrooms with a light meal or in a smoothie is best for easing the anxiety.

First, its easier on the stomach. That helps. But the important part is that there is a slow come-up as the shrooms are slowly digested with the light meal/smoothie.

Some pre-trip and come-up trip anxiety is common.

As recommended, practice some meditation techniques. Youtube as some guided ones you can listen to, just search around and find something u like.

I find distracts help with anxiety, like music or a video to watch, or something to occupy your mind.

Also, if u feel like you are burning up, take off some clothes. Or go find some cool spots in your house.

Lastly, maybe try some lower doses? Like 2-2.75 gram range. Once u get used to that, then go higher. Familiarize yourself in the lower dose range then slowly increase.

Tea is super easy on the stomach, the come-up is harder for anxiety, but it's also over more quickly. 

Best antidote for anxiety is to have a good set and setting, be alone in your room with some relaxing, happy music and low lighting, get comfy in  PJs or naked in a blanket and just lie back and meditate. 

Have some cool art books to look at when the visuals start, some musical intruments, drawing pads and pens, markers etc. all around you in easy reach, and just go with the flow. 

Having no expectations is key, or to expect the worse and accept it calmly.  I psych my self up for the worse trip possible, accept that in my mind and face it with no fear, then it usually ends up being totally fucking awesome.  If visuals start to get unpleasant, be indifferent to them, view them dispassionately, breath calmly and regularly and remember that you're hallucinating and that the mushrooms are in charge. 

You have no control over you trip.  Pre-trip anxiety means you still want to have some control over it and make it good.  Accept what will come, every trip has a rough spot, that rough patch will be 5 minutes of slight discomfort if you passively accept it and don't try to run away, or hours of agonizing anxiety and fear if you fight it and start thinking "make this stop, go away I don't like this wah wah wah." 

Just remember, the mushrooms show you what they want to, you invited them into your consciousness, so enjoy the show, don't bitch and moan if it isn't all rainbows and sunshine, it's your unconscious mind that's doing it, after all.

I'd suggest to relax and enjoy the ride. Pre occupy yourself until you're swept away. If that still persists take lower doses an get familiar with the effects just  like Logical said

Just an update. I have found my favorite and most effective way of consuming the mushrooms. I used a tea method and made it with sleepytime tea. I just put the grinded up eighth of shrooms in the bottom of a cup and poured steaming hot water on them and immediately put a tea bag of my flavor in with it. It was delicious. Didnt get nervous, or sick to my stomach. The headspace was really easy to handle. I was laying down with eyes closed as I like to do and seen some pretty crazy stuff that, if I could remember it well enough, I could learn from. lol but I simply have a difficult time remembering the eyes closed part. I tripped for around 4 hours and came down pretty immediately. I smoked a little bit of weed with it though to keep me from getting to anxious as well. Just thought I would let everyone on here know. I recommend the tea method for anyone who has a hard time with nausea because of consumption of the shroom body.

Add some acid (lemon juice or orange juice) to the water and don't worry about letting it get hot.  I soak the mushrooms in some lemon juice for 5 minutes, put in some water and bring to a boil, then add whatever tea I want and let it steep for 5 mintues, then strain and consume.  Sounds like you had a light trip because you didn't soak the mushrooms very long and didn't acidify the solution.  You wasted about 1.5g worth of shrooms by not fully extracting the indoles from the quantity you used, but at least you enjoyed the trip.  Once you do tea, you don't go back.  :lol:

So let me see if I understand this correctly.


Put grinded up dose of shrooms in the cup.

Put lemon juice into a cup.

Let sit for a few minutes and stir it occasionally..

Then pour that lemon juice mixture and mushrooms into boiling water in a pot...and steep for a few minutes.

Strain and consume, like you said.

Right? Well what about if I used one of these


And poured the final product into this cup which keeps the shroom mush in the cup while drinking it and allows you to keep drinking without getting the mush in your mouth. Would you do this?
