Wait, weren't you ready to go all in at $17 and change about 2 weeks ago? What changed?
1/1/15 said i was thinkin about it 1/17/15 you referencing a past statement of mine stating i'd buy in at around 10 2/1/15 at $17.XX, i see some .999 silver on craigslist and send an inquiry (he ended up being a bit too far away) 2/2/15 almost pulled the trigger on 100oz @ 17.xx
Now i'm saying <$15 again? How strange. What may have changed my outlook for global PM prices since then?
oh, yeah, Greece reaching a deal with EU (aka no imminent grexit) ukraine ceasefire & prisoner swap the re-emergence of new equity high's
PMs and global stability have an inverse relationship

silver took the dip back below $16 today for the first time since the newyear. the -2.13% drop came during the same trading day as the new jobs numbers which showed 50,000 gains over the ~245k nonfarm estimates, prompting more equities speculation that a strong domestic economy will move forward the timeline on the fed funds rate hike...
...which will further strengthen the USD and (prospectively) weaken precious metals. All in line with our expectations.
So, those of you who are here who hold PMs. When you want to reduce your physical silver, where do you offload your holdings?

If I reduce my holdings I would suffer a heavy loss . If I did though I would probably pawn it.

I usually sell via Craigslist. It takes more work, but you get more money. I've also sold on the bitcoin forums.

I just go to my coin dealer. If I don't like what I'm getting, I drive down the road to his competitor. They've hated each other for 25 years now.
APMEX - Never again. Purchase or sell.
I do hope this holds resistance at 15. I'd imagine anyone with a substantial amount of silver hopes so too.

How much under spot does your dealer give you? I think that for silver eagles you should expect to get 1 or 2 dollars under spot for your coins. Directly to a purchaser you should be able to get a dollar over spot for eagles. If you have 10k worth of silver that is around 600ozt so your difference would be about 1200 selling it directly to people vs a coin dealer. Do you think those numbers sound right?
Craigslist selling can eat up a lot of time. I sold my horde when silver was in the upper 20s and it was a pain in the ass. I don't know if 1200 would be worth the time for me now-a-days though...

interested as to why you say this. specifically on the sell side. i figured apmex would be the easiest way to offload a decent quantity of physical silver

I also want to know. I never sold to apmex but I have bought my silver from there and had zero problems. Place seemed straight forward on everything and completely up front.

APMEX is currently buying American Eagles at $1.40 over spot. You've been getting ripped off if you are selling eagles at 1 or 2 dollars under spot. Badly ripped off.

That's why you buy 100 oz. bars at 0.75 over spot and hold on to them...

There are better places to sell to. APMEX is a huge operation with a lot of people some of whom have truly bad attitudes. I tried a couple of times to get a quote for selling back to them and they just ignore you. Lost in the shuffle, or just lazy...

Getting in at 10, memes?
Bought a ton at 17.
In which case I'm doubling down. I think anyone interested in getting into metals should take 10/ounce a good long term investment.
My student loans and soon to be mortgage can let metals do their own thing for 25 more years.

i'm going to be getting in, but i'm not sure i'm going to be getting into physical. as i stated a few pages back, plan on grabbing some silver while the dollar is unnaturally strong, and holding onto it for a while until equities turn sour, then swapping my PM holding out for equities positions.
as i don't want to ship, hold, sell, physical silver - i'll probably end up holding something like SLV to fill that role

BaH SLV aka paper silver. Nothing compares to stacking your silver coins in your house and then running your hands over them...

i'm sure that's true. but physical silver has it's own costs (both monetary and non) associated with it. paper silver will serve my purpose; as a short-term play.
i'll pick up some big bars on the side for long-term holdings.
