Mazatapec too aggressive to pin!
    #2137009 - 11/26/03 09:35 AM (13 years, 10 days ago)

Hello shroomers! I'm afraid a FOAF has this problem...

He cased some mazatapec (syringe from mushmush) colonised grain with coco coir before 8 days and still no signs of pins!
The humidity in the terrarium is about 98%, the temperature at 20-22C, there's enough light and 3-4 fannings a day. However the mycelium is very fluffy and unwilling to pin. Instead, it colonizes the casing material, and the FOAF has to apply a new layer of coir every 2 days because there is no more left uncolonized...
He knows that at this stage patience is the way to go, however the casing containers have no more room for fresh casing material and he really needs to know what's wrong (as he has made a new casing and he doesn't want it to end up like the first ones...)

Any feedback would be really appreciated...

Ok then, he'll cold-shock. It's just that he thought cold-shocking wouldn't have any effect on p.cubensis...
however he'll give it a try.
Thanks guys!

First make sure it isn't contamed, secondly 8 days seems a little short. Lower your humidity to around 80%, are you sure it hasn't overlayed?

sometimes they just take a while - its got more to do the with spore match genetics than anything else - a shock might wake it up, but the temps you have seem fine to me.
