Found these 9mm petri dishes for 2.99 at goodwill. Whoodathunkit?
Anyway I'm kinda knew to this- will these work for agar? The only tek I'm familiar with is the grocery store tek with gulaman/agar-agar. Could I pour the agar/potato mix into the petris and sterilize them in a pressure cooker like I would a jar?

Not sure. I don't think so, but if you can find anywhere on the label "PP5", then those dishes CAN be sterilized. If not, then they can't. Those dishes aren't sterile currently either, as indiated by the boxes labeling, seeing as how they are not hermetically sealed. Those are a cool find though. I would have picked them up had I ran across them in a thrift store.

Thats a sweet find! But I would worry how sterile they are if they weremt in a plastic sleev
You know what they are usefull for though, is spore printing! I like to put my foil down in them and drop the cover on over the cap if its flat enough.
I save my old pitres to use as covers for spore printing
Edit:oh theyre kinda small arent they

Ha, those are good points, mushpunx. Right on. Thanks for pointing that out. I have heard about doing printing with the plastic petris as you describe before. Just not for a long time have I heard that. Nice to go down memory lane like that. You are correct too. Those plates are small.

Super rad find! Those will be awesome for printing due to stackability. If it's a possibility, save a little and hunt for Pyrex petris on the interwebs, solid investment, and they will last indefinitely!
