Yeah i only case very occasionaly. Also if you do decide to case in the future I recommend using a coir verm mix brought to field capacity. IMO straight verm tends to dry fast and get kind of crusty. Its all preference though.

Casing cubes is completely unnecessary IME
Not in mine. It really depends on your climate.

That is very true. Here in league city its like 75 to 90% humidity like all day every day. If you ate getting bad pinsets without casing then deffinantly would say to try it out but I get canopy's without so its just extra work with no different outcome.

Yeah people hate on casing a lot and I've done dozens of tubs and most were uncased, but my cased ones have all been awesome becauss they don't dry out so fast.

If he did it was some oven pasteurization
But putting an unsterile casing on uncolonized bulk was the nail in this coffin
lol yea I know I kinda jumped the gun on that one. I still have plenty of spawn left to start more trys. hey if you don't ever fail how are you supposed to learn. and I pasteurized it at 170 doing the pillow case method

Nice, its always smart to save eggs for new baskets. You are right about learning from mistakes, my post history is a collection of failures.
I assumed oven from the lack of homogeniety and dryness. Keep the temp above 140 and under 160 for 2 hours for pasteurizing though, 170 is killing good bacteria.
