Have you guys that use zip ties on bags ever tried those cloth and Velcro cable ties??

Seems like they’d work the same just way easier to adjust and reusable.

A.k.a, I have not used them in this application but you should check out the reusable/adjustable zip ties. Used to get them with product orders for work. Super handy!

I’ve got the 16” sealer, and opening up the gussets sounds like a good idea to try next time.  I’d had these bags since last year, can’t remember where I got them but after a PC run they feel way weaker, possibly why it was melting the center and hardly sealing the gusset sides.  If the element is what makes it a wider seal, I’m all for ordering that.  Buuuuuuuut I’m just going to keep rocking jars and use that sealer to put better seal on my bags of meat that get vacuum sealed.  I’ll give the bags a try again when I put a FH together, speaking of which I got a quote from one of my supply houses for $105 for 24x24x6 99.99% hepa so I may put together sooner than later!

The sealer that I used before my AIE was a cheap amazon sealer. The heat element suuuucked. The biggest reason is the element heats unevenly, getting red hot in some places and barely enough to melt the bag at others. End up with a seal that isn't a seal, half of it melted the top off, the other half didn't melt enough to even kinda seal, and the smoke from the plastic burning isn't so lovely. I replaced the element, no difference. Also only 2mm "seal" if i remember properly. Unicorn bags are the bomb but you can only buy in quantities of 1000. Myers Mush is the bomb and sells em in smaller quantities (might be unicorn bags resold). Shitty sealer.. Not so bomb. Get  you an AIE. Minimum 12" 5mm seal. Ideal 16" 10mm seal. The magnetic option is so so very helpful too. Highly recommend it. I haven't messed with zip ties, presealed bags are top notch.

This sealer topic is a large reason I have gone to pre-sealing. The virgin bags seal perfectly every time with cheap-ass sealers, because they haven't become wet, crinkly and hardened in the pc.

So I’d made a screen with 2x4s.....wasn’t happy with it.  Got tired of buying strainers and not finding just the right one.  I dangerously frequent the restaurant supply store, as I could easily spend way too much money.  Grabbed 2 of these white bins and went to town with the drill.  I’ve only don’t the one so far but I’ve run a few batches and it works great.  I am going to mod it with a drain hole in the corners so I can tip it and get all that extra sitting water to run out but it’s sturdy and fits perfectly over my double sink!

This is a frivolous little thing, but I got it as a free gift and it works surprisingly well for removing blades...

They make paint strainers that are mesh liners for 5g buckets. Just called a 5g paint strainer. $4 for 2. Drill some holes in the bottom of a 5g bucket, add your liner and strain 5g at a time. Myers mush style.

Maybe I'm the only one doing this but I think that's unlikely. Too many farm boys here to have not thought of this before but...... Bait bucket?

Throw some window screen in if the slots are too big for millet but they are almost ready made for straining grain.

Reposting this image to see if I can get some help recreating it, I don't like my LC lids w/ SHIPs. I've got the gl45 bottle and syringes, but don't know where to get the long ass syringe filter or the adapter that goes into the syringe.

Amazon. I was just looking at those the other day. I think it was male/female syringe or tubing adapters.

that is just a GL45 cap with barbed ports. The syringe filter is given clearance by a piece of vinyl tubing that matches the correct barb diameter.

For the draw off adapter check out US Plastics and Global Industrial
