They had 11 trays, not 11 of the units, lol. The unit fits 22 trays, but that'd only be like an inch of distance between them, e.g., perfect for apple slices or jerky or something. I'm so excited to use it.

Speaking of toys
And about time too, no more rinky dinky drying on the heater. We got this 10 tray dehydrator through our equivalent of craigslist (it's called marktplaats, which translates as market place) for just 60 euros

I have that EXACT dehydrator, black with the blue trays and all. I got mine new a few years back and paid about $100 so good deal. I was never able to fill it in the past, I hope to have the opposite issue soon enough.

Thanks. Hopefully we'll one day need all the trays in that dehydrator.
@Asura Yes they are. And we got six more of those yesterday

And this is why we need flow hoods... lol.
So, I moved into a studio appartment, no small rooms, just one small place. I think I got it under control, last pour was 0 contams. Feeling more confident, doing the work that I can... and yes to the flow hood, likely will be seeing something like that soon!
Rock. Happy for you. Fixing to build one, too. - Contams at 0 is baller. Something I toyed with for a bit was hanging poly from the ceiling in a corner to isolate it. Set my plastic table and SAB there for a while. Worked well to isolate the area. That hood though...

Those things are dope AF. The 160 liter is completely worth it, too. Second floor apartments with no help moving = not so great, but damn is it worth it. 160 degrees of goodness. Happy for you. The Cabela's dehydrators rock out.

OMFG... you think that thing can handle 11 pound blocks of coir, too?!?! (I have to find a way to break these things down faster...)

This was inspired by ya'lls scores and having room to even have a mulcher.

I hate 11lb blocks of coir, they are such a bitch to hydrate. You always have to break them up a few times to get the core to hydrate all the way it seems.

The 160 is amazing. You will never need all the trays unless you feel like making banana chips. :p Usually only need about 11 anyway.
Passing a tip on from LotKid... cut out parchment paper squares. Be sure to leave room around the edges for air circulation. They work like a dream and last a very long time. Best way to go.

Right? For the money they were to best deal I could find... have to take a butcher's knife and cleave them along the lines to make sheets, weigh the chunks, and then break the chunks up... by hand... forever...
Making up eight or more tubs worth of coir that way is tedious... very tedious... and when things time out right and I'm staring down the barrel of two sets of ten tubs... fucking fuck.
I don't know if I want to ruin a brand new electric knife trying to figure out a way to do things faster; however, I am not above that. Lol.

I use 10 lb blocks of coir and just pour 5.25 gallons of boiling water on one in a big ass cooler, come back in 30 and scrape the expanded stuff to the sides and flip the block and scrape again, then walk away until the next day, stir it up real good and break up the chunks before wiping my tubs out with iso and tape them up. By the time Iโm done its ready to use. Its enough coir for about 5-6 monotubs, I try to use it asap but Iโve had it sit for weeks with no problems except when ants try to make a nest in it. If you need to make smaller batches I suggest using a saw to cut it up, bandsaw if youโre got it, circ or hand saw should do the trick too.
