Question for outdoor bed

I'm having trouble figuring out what the best substrate would be for cubensis. I know hpoo and straw are good but I was wondering what your personal preferences are. Also, if mixing them is best then what ratio should I use? I've been trying to look this up for a few hours but I just find generic guides that don't really help.

Any of the aforementioned substrate materials would be fine. Cow manure, top soil, and coir come to mind too. What ever you choose to use just don't pasteurize the bulk material if you are planning to spawn directly into said outdoor bed.

there is no perfect ratio.you just use the stuff over and over until you figure out what you like. you can most likely use any one substrate pure. but diversity is the spice of life

I see, does this mean you should only pasteurize if you are spawning inside, even if fruiting outside? Thanks for the responses guys, I really appreciate it.

you can pasteurize for an outdoor grow but you don't have to.

Yes. Once the mycelium has fully colonized and gained it's footholding onto the substrate, if the culture is full of vigor, the fully colonized substrate can hold it's own against invader spores outdoors.

This is terrible advise. Please disregard. Pasteurizing the bulk substrate materials for an outdoor bed is counter-productive. Outdoors, the microlife keep each other in check. Pasteurizing your substrate will kill that balance and invader spores will grab a footholding of the substrate and rip right through it.
All that needs to be done to your substrate materials for your outdoor beds is for the materials to be brought to field capacity and spawned to. Keeping up the RH in your outdoor beds is a whole nother set of skills.

Ive thrown one brick of coir, a bunch of straw , proably 50% to 75% if you want a ratio then a few handfulls of horse manure. Dug a four inch trench and just spread spawn throughout. I think it took a few weeks to a month to produce and the slugs tore my babies apart! Fun exp. Tho. Trying to put together Azure. Spawn on chips at the moment since thats more suitable d to my area.

sterilizing will do that. pasteurization even for outdoors keeps a balance to ensure your spawn can rip through it faster and uninhibited.
it really depends. RR likes to let the microbes find their balance. but the local mushroom farm when they do outdoor anything it's lime pasteurized.
