yellow growth in petri dish on agar, can I save these?
    #21341195 - 02/28/15 01:00 AM (9 years, 10 months ago)

Hi,

Got 2 petri dishes that are 50% covered with  B+ mycelium one has yellow growth (see pic) on the remaning agar and the other has green growth on the remaning agar but none of them has any growth on the actual mycelium which looks white and healthy. Is it possible to cut a sector out and move to a new dish? I would hate to lose these.

I'd toss them.  They seem pretty far gone.

Maybe if you caught it early it would be a go.  The green you're talking about are spores which have likely contaminated the whole dish.

You could try cleaning it up. If you want to really keep your culture, then try. If you're working in a SAB, which you should be, then you don't really have to worry about spreading spores in your home as long as you're quick and controlled.

You can definitely save those with some good technique and luck.

Why are they so far gone anyways? You should try to catch that shit much earlier.
