Does any actually enjoy a bad trip?
    #21359371 - 03/04/15 03:53 AM (9 years, 2 months ago)

Does anyone enjoy bad trips?
I was tripping the other day and had a bad trip, but I noticed that I have the most intense bad trips compared to my good trips. After i come out of a bad trip I'm always like "Holy fucking shit!"
Anyone else out there?

i find bad trips may not be more enjoyable but they can be more meaningful in the end and result in a fresher and happier feeling that lasts a while

Uh, most people don't enjoy bad trips while they're happening. Maybe the results and conclusions after a bad trip that lead you to fix the cause/trigger of the anxiety during the trip for ease of mind...

That's like saying "Does anyone love panic attacks? I'm always like HOLY SHIT that was so intense, my heart and mind was racing so fast and my anxiety was through the roof, WOW. I can't wait for next time!"

So unless you enjoy those experiences, no, it wouldn't typically be a good feeling/experience.

True, you always end up learning from the experience.

I wasn't referring to it as a good feeling, just more intense. I can see where you are coming from, anxiety isn't fun, BUT, It can also add on to the trip, I might not be making any sense right now because I'm partially fried right now so excuse my retardedness.

to me large doses is like a chance to push a reset button and after you can re-choose how to contiune with your thoughts and life in general but i dont get this affect to the same extent with 'fun' low doses

Interesting, what do you mean by push the reset button? like if you feel a bad trip coming on you can just totally avoid it by focusing on something? I would like to know more.

no i mean a powerful trip normally 'shows' or gives incite to some personal demons that you may not have been aware of and give you the chance to confront your fears, problems ect and allows you to overcome them if you choose to work on what you have discovered.... sort of like realising your faults and given the chance of re-setting them.

without the trip you might never have realised you had the fault/s to start with and so would drag it around as 'baggage' but the trip allows you to see things different or from an outside perspective so you see what other may see and can adjust your behaviours accordingly with what direction you want to take.

like a clean slate or a re-set

I used to try and fight the mindfuck, which would sort of send me into a bad trip and make me feel insane. But then i learned to embrace it and now i love that insane feeling.

Bad trips are like being held upside down, a great relief when they finally end.

I never want a bad trip to end. It's like a breath of fresh air man, like "Finally, this is what I've been looking for, this is why I take these things."

And once it's over I get depressed because life is great compared to that experience. I hate feeling great.

I don't enjoy bad trips while I'm going through it, but the lessons I learn from the bad trips last a life time, where the happy fun trips seem to be more transient in signifigance.

Well I wouldn't call it a bad trip if I enjoyed it so...

But I get what you are saying. Those out of control, intense, anxiety inducing trips. Yes in the right setting I can enjoy them. Usually I need to run off in solitude and meditate for a while, which brings me in to the most intense CEVs and body sensations, and eventually puts the good ol' 'shit eating grin' on my face for the rest of the trip

Some trips are better than others, but I never completely characterize any of mine as 'bad'

During "bad trips" I have found some of the most pressing information about my sober self out of all my trips. I think they show you how little control you actually have. If possible I try to focus on committing my thoughts to paper before they evade me in my panic, because I find these experiences provide the most brutal truths that you would rather have suppressed otherwise. Within the anxiety and self-loathing and fear is important insight into who you are and what you want, try to remember what scares you most so that you can confront it and overcome it. :2cents:

Definitely don't enjoy a bad trip in the mmoment but afterwords I find I have learned more than I would on a good trip, that's the only benefit instead of having g a "good/happy" perspective change on things you have a "bad/negative" perspective on things in the moment, this is just your ego fighting to stay alive, people that have bad trips usually have higher developed egos, which is why young people have higher rates of good trips, personally I've never had a bad trip out of my 10 trips but I have had moments where it has gone bad, and in those moments they are not physically or mentally good feeling but afterwords you will have a different perspective usually more powerful and meaningful than if it were to be a good perspective, these are things you should pay attention to, they go bad for a reason.

Yeah, having a bad trip means you're fighting it, once you learn not to fight it, then there's no bad trips.  Some hairy shit might come up, but you deal.
