Check Engine Flashing
    #21357398 - 03/03/15 05:18 PM (9 years, 2 months ago)

I parked in a parking spot that was shoveled last night.  This morning a huge pile of snow was right behind my vehicle.  There's no assigned spots at my apartment complex, but this guy claimed it for himself.  Well now after work today my check engine light starts flashing,  I drove it straight to autozone for a report.  I got error messages:
Cylinder # misfire
Lean air/fuel ratio
Engine mechanical condition
Vacuum leak affecting 1 cylinder.

Poor signal received from CKP or CMP
Fuel system malfunction - injector or fuel pump
Engine mechanical condition
Ignition system malfunction

Could a vandal cause any of this if my truck is locked?

no man I don't think a vandal could do that. It could be something as simple as you need to replace your spark plugs not sure tho

I replaced the spark plugs and wires a year ago.  I was having a problem starting my truck a couple weeks ago, but after replacing the battery and terminal connectors it worked fine.  Could the weather changing to rain have some affect?

I had those error messages almost exactly about 2 weeks ago. It was my ignition coils.

Op something as simple as a loose gas cap could cause that. Try disconecting the battery for a few minutes and see if that helps before spending a couple hundred at a garage. I had a friend who had his car throwing all kinds of codes and they charged him like four hundred and all they did is disconect the battery and re boot the computer.

Where'd he go Tires Plus? Holy shit.

Goto a mechanic that won't charge you for the diagnostic test. They only charge if you follow through with whatever needs doing and if it's an easy fix you can maybe do it yourself

One thing I heard is that a regular Check Engine light is ok to drive on but a flashing light could mean something bad.  Do you bychance live in Boston?  I'd totally believe someone would fuck with your car there, people get killed over that shit.

Idk, my engine is shaky and seems to be putting.  However now the check engine light is solid.  I will try to disconnect battery for 5 mins.  It just drove ok down side street, but I'm a little warey about its condition.

I have a 2003 Mazda b3000 truck.  It misfired on cylinders 2,3, and random.

I'll bet anything that it is ignition coils based on what you said so far. And it shakes the most when accelerating but at a certain RPM it seems to run ok?

The only cars I've worked on have been older and American . I'm am not sure about Mazda. Check your oil and coolant. Check for leaking of one into the other.  .  I don't think it's your computer .  I could be. Wrong. .

Also check your fuel filter and pump. Hell  it could be something easy like a bad O2 sensors or it could be a worse. Like I said I'm not sure as I don't know Mazda.

I'm thinking head gasket  my Chevy had a similar problem. Had a friend do it and cost me 300 . I hope not.

I changed my oil at Christmas, I changed my radiator fluid 2 summers ago, I changed fuel filter a year ago.  Yeah at steady speed the not so shaky.  Acceleration is finiky.  Even after I installed new battery I couldn't turn over right away.  I'd wait till the following morning to disconnect cables and reconnect.

How much snow did they shovel behind your car? Nudes/pics?

Did you steal the only shoveled spot?

Ignition coils will throw the switch for sure. That makes sense

yeah its pretty fuckin ruthless out there now

heard some interesting stories lately

i heard one where a dude stole someones spot and left his door open, so the guy whos spot was stolen shoveled a bunch of snow IN the car and then once he had done enough inside he put snow all over this guys car to the point where you couldnt see it anymore, and you couldnt see that there was snow in the car lol

the nicest thing ive heard someone was doing was to put dog poop on the car handle lol

dude. i would be willing to bet you have a 2 part failure.

start at the vacuum leak and work your way back.

if you have unmetered air going into your motor, the rest is a moot point.

start the vehicle listen for a hiss.. spray brake clean around hiss and listen for a rev in the motor. then look for cracked vacuum lines, hoses, gaskets solve that issue first.

Damn, that's a lot of codes to show up all at once like that, something seems funny there.

This big pile of snow... was it by any chance packed into the tailpipe too?

It was a 3 foot pile of packed snow that was too wide to avoid.  I haven't had a problem with him before. I should of taken a pic.  I will tighten gas cap and check hoses.  My oil plug wasnt removed.  Nothing jammed in the exhaust pipe.
