I have recently been reading on Lujan Matus and his books mainly parallel perception and shadows in the twilight both very good reads on consciousness and the holographic principal intertwined with shamanism and the dream state. One such of his teachings is that the realms we go into when tripping are not good for us supposedly using up our energy where it is not suppose to be where entities can use it or be intertwined in it. Anybody have any experience with his teachings or agree with this?

That's correct. The pranic realm is some serious stuff. Take for example your very own house. Now suppose you move into this place yay many years ago. And through those years, imagine being the house, looking at everything that's happening inside the house. All these people walk in and out, breathing in and out, talking, walking, moving objects, doing things with/to each other, emotions exchanged, all sorts. That's just one family. Now rewind a little. Another family in the house. Forward two steps, another family in the house. Three different overlays superimposed onto one house. The energy currents running through the house will be the sum total, past present and future of the house. But the present moment in the house will reflect the currents passing through it all the time.
This kinda leads to Judgement Day. On the day of Judgement every soul will come forth pleading for itself and displaying its works. So for example a bricklayer built your house. You now live in this house and you do things. Perhaps you talked to the very bricklayer's great great grandson. He had such and such a relationship with his children and wanted this or that for them. He gave you the safety of the four walls of your home, with his very own sweat blood and tears. So there is a relationship between you, the bricklayer and the great great grandson. The prana of each of you is One prana, what it will manifest is the sum total - the most Loving intention. Keep in mind, the most Just intention also. Prana works at mega speeds, instantly/light-speed. There are all manner of beings which do not seem to possess solid bodies, but they do possess prana bodies. So we can't see them with our eyes but we CAN sense them and feel/see them with our Third Eye.
The Day of Judgement and Karma are fundamentally interlinked. Karma is the pleading of souls between each other on the Day of Judgement. Picture your Self looking back at You right Now from There, and talking directly to the All-Knowing, telling It where you want to go in order to next prove yourself to enter the Heavenly Kingdom. Other souls will argue with you and say "you can't have this because I want that" and then you'll argue with them saying "but you did this and I did this other thing so why do you deserve this while I don't?", all manner of things like that. Ultimately it's a matter of what leads you closest to the Creator, that is where you will find Joy. All of these entities are karmic teachers, they are only able to attach to you in order to teach you a lesson about yourself, who you are, where you came from, where you are going.
I recognise now, a little late but better late than never, that to enter these psychedelic realms and interact with all of these entities will have profound consequences for the unfolding of your Life. These entities operate on a level where they can see through you to your innermost thoughts. Hyperspace is a BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG place. Hyperspace is the size of the entire Universe itself and it's all here in your Mind.
On the flipside of the equation. Always connect to the Divine Love.
Today taught me something very special, in the manner of integrating my DMT trips of yore. I realised that the Ultimate Love, the peak experience, it is manifested through the trials and tribulations of the entire journey to getting there. That Divine Love, is found by piercing through layer after layer of fear upon fear, and the entire journey itself is summed up as that feeling of Radiant Glory at the end, the feeling of "Hooray, We Got There! ". In order to tap into this radiant joy, one must surf through the pain, master it and feel it all truly. Then at the end of it all, the Knower knows Oneself, the One who is capable of Loving All Things. That is how you consequently experience the Divine, it is by putting yourself in the shoes of the Divine, to Love freely, to Love furiously, to Love persistently, to pass through each and every stage of Hell so that in knowing your Self, you know your Self as Heaven.
-------------------- "Everything there is, and all that there is, is a Pattern of unspeakable proportion. The Pattern contains everything that is, completely fixed in succession, all the minimal particles interconnected in every way that is. Every way that is is not every conceivable way, because not everything that can be conceived is manifest in the pattern." "THE Human, you, is a miniscule but essential part of that pattern. In it lies complete fulfillment. It will never become something it is not, but it will never need to be anything else." - Wiccan_Seeker "If boring drudgery was the way of the universe, everything would have killed itself long ago." - Spacerific

Hmm these inferences undermine the perception that we can gain anythng including allies from the modalities in the other realms and all we are doing is wasting our energy in these pursuits, I do agree with you that love is at the core of all things I have felt this in some meditations I have done, there is so much knowledge out there sometimes hard to figure out what way the truth really lies or who to believe.

Hi Fatal, Happened upon your post. Some thoughts follow: I too read Lujan's first book and at first I struggled a bit. About a year later in 2008 I went to train with Lujan in the Lo Ban Pai system. In that period I also learned the gazing practices he later wrote about in his second book "Awakening the Third Eye".
After a second and longer visit the following year my understanding of the teachings had increased and I had time to digest my experiences and discussions with Lujan a bit more. At a two week workshop in 2010 I was part of a group who asked various questions. This opened new avenues of thought and Lujan's answers were speaking to similar topics he later addressed in the Third book 'Shadows in the Twilight' which you have read. I still go to train with Lujan, so I had more time for discussions, as opposed to the learning and training.
The point of this lengthy background is two-fold: Firstly to indicate that we are probably? seeking similar answers around dreaming and altered states, especially in as far as they hold a certain promise of growth or self-actualization -at least according to claims and reports of several authors, and this is where plants enter the story. I stopped experimenting with plants about two decades ago so have little to add there. Secondly that having gotten to know Lujan I can attest to his character and that he walks his talk. He restored my faith in mankind and what we can become.
I found book 3 -Shadows to be a very clear -if dense- exposition of, and commentary on what modern 'seekers' get out of the literature of specifically Carlos Castaneda... This in the sense of 'spirituality and mystical pursuits'.
While your short summary of Lujan's view on dreaming / altered states holds truth, it obviously cannot convey how it was substantiated. I admit that coming to Lujan expecting to focus on altered states and dreaming had me battle for years to come to terms with his views -which deserve careful reading. I was really looking forward to doing 'the real thing' and it did not suit my expectations to meet with his views. I highly recommend Lujan's fourth book "Whisperings of the Dragon" for various reasons, but in this case specifically because it discusses the mysticism and altered states from a completely new direction and not in the terminology that grew out of the sixties. This shift allows a different perspective to emerge on the role and purpose of altered states in a pursuit of spirituality or even just truth and self-knowledge.
I end by noting that Lujan is not against dreaming per-se. That is why he spent some time to make clear that there are different 'types' of dreaming and that the requirements for 'useful' dreaming that also does not have negative impact are hard to attain. As I've mentioned, this is not what I wanted to hear -but perhaps I needed to? You'll recall Lujan contrast dreams and visions and that is a key differentiator to understand. Again I recommend Lujan's fourth book as a means to appreciate this difference since it must at least have an impact on how plants are approached.
All the best.
