Are my Cubs infected or water damaged?
    #21355589 - 03/03/15 09:50 AM (9 years, 2 months ago)

I have spawned cubensis colonized rye berry substrate to pre-pasteurized mushroom compost, most of which I put into aluminum containers and the leftovers into small porcelain cups.  MU shrooms are cultivating well on both but the fruits from the larger aluminum containers have forest green caps as opposed to the golden caps of the small porcelain.  Neither the cakes nor the fruits have any distinct odor other than what cubensis typically smells like, but virtually all the caps in the non porcelain containers are dark green.  The stems are thick and meaty so I cut them to inspect further.  There's some green around the outside but the inside on most are virtually all white.  The green color is consistent with the color that the fruits bruise.  All signs point to it being bruising but how can this happen?  Water damage?  Excessive cold(temp dropped to 50's when they first began fruiting but has since stanizef at ~72 degrees.  The caps are not being handled and touching could not be a source of their bruising.  I am worried because they continue to fruit with green caps regardless of the climate changes but there appears to be no sight or smell of contams on either the fruits or the cake.  Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Beautiful pics, the bruising looks so contrasted against the albinos! Dry em up quickly or eat em
