What is with this Rice Bran?

I did a batch of mushrooms about a month ago. It was the BRF tek, except that I substituted rice bran for BRF though because I heard it was better. I got zero results with that, not even germination. The jars didn't colonize for over a month of waiting.
I ended up doing a new batch that was BRF and things worked out really well. So I realized that maybe the rice bran was just not enough for the psilosibe. But I still had some bran.
So I tried to make a batch with HALF bran and HALF BRF, in which I hoped to see if I could get some mushrooms out of it, and see if it was stronger than the BRF I did in batch B. The funny part is that I ran out of that mix for the last jar, so it ended up being half of that mix, and just half BRF.
So here is what happened. Zero germination in the half BRF/Bran. But very fast germination on the BRF as before. So just having some bran in the mix, somehow stopped or retarded the germination, even when there was BRF present. Has anyone ever tried this?

There are very little to no carbs in bran. Bran is the outer hull of the grain and contains mostly trace minerals.

I don't know if it's just trace minerals. My lion's mane seems to have propagated its way through the bran easily enough (or at least I hope that's what that is. It's possible that it's only good for a wood lover though since there seems to be a big difference between what a wood eater can eat and what a non wood eater can. But like I said, I expected at least some germination with the half/half variety.

It is high in dietary fiber and does have some carbs, protein and fat but I'm not sure if it's optimum for cubes.
Also are you making lion's mane cakes or are you spawning to a bulk substrate with bran supplemented into it? There is a big difference.

Bran has like 50% carbs. I have no idea why it's stunting your germination, though.

Thanks van. Sorry about that. I usually get my info from nutritiondata.self.com but for some reason did not think to look there first this time.
