Alien isolation!

What a game!
The kind of game that makes me feel just as I did as a young buck when playing system shock 2, when developers back then really put some effort in!
I was starting to think it was just me, that I had simply grown out of computer games and perhaps I just couldn’t get excited about things like mindless video games in the same way I used to!
NO! Nonsense! They were just not making good games anymore!
None of that shoot one man, save the game, shoot another save again!
A genuine sense of tension and a real frantic feeling of being hunted by a shit scary highly intelligent foe, heightened by the fact that you cannot just save whenever you like and so forth actually have something to lose if he catches you!
AI is also wonderful with genuinely weighty and satisfying combat!
Really wish I could play it on the rift!

I fucking love this game. Imo its the first GOOD alien game to ever come out, which is surprising because i always wondered how hard can it be to make a good game based off an awesom franchise. I beat it on nightmare mode the other day and holy fuck is that tense. What did you play it on? I played on ps4. Graphics are stunning and they really nailed the atmosphere like i never could've imagined. This game made me realize how important atmosphere is to games and movies too.
The only improvement id like to see is a co op mode which i have to ideas for. One has two players trying to complete a trial like the survivor mode, so two people could strategize to distract the alien and work around it, hell you could almost do the whole campaign like that, but it'd need to be nightmare difficulty to keep it interesting.
The other that i think would work great is if you had one player playing, while the other (maybe make it console and tablet crossover like commander mode in bf4) simplay watches on security cameras, that could be damaged by various environmental hazards, so the player would have to go and fix the cameras. Also maybe make it so the rewire systems are offline and when the player fixes them, they'd be accessible to the camera watching player, but only a few rewires would be accessible at a time. Overall awesome game and they do have it on occulus rift which would be awesome as well.
Oh and in both co op modes the alien would ve able to hear the players if they talk to loud on mics. Actually they could build speakers into the camera, that the security player's voice would come out so the alien could hear that and break them, and there'd be limitations to how well the players could communicate.
Also i don't think it'd be to hard to implement a competitive mode, where ayers are competing over an area, but make to much noise and the alien takes you out, so there'd be stealth combat. But at the same time this game succeeded above tons of others in that they kept it simple and didn't try to put to much into one game which is where most games these days fail.
Alien isolation is probably the most underrated game this gen imo.

Im playing it on the PC bud at the moment on hard difficulty!
I dont know how it ever got to be so rated as being 'underated' but you are right and there is even a thread on steam right now asking is it really as bad as people say it is?
WTF?
Honestly the entire gaming industry these days is a total joke! It is almost as if the developers decided that the game was in itself so self evidently and obviously brilliant and had such confidence in how well genuine gamers would reveive it that they scarcely felt the need to bribe anyone at all! Hence the reviews such as 6 out of 10 on gamespot!
These days I will not touch offical reviews and quickly skim down to the user comments below. Sure its inviting a 12 year old troll infestation to do so but these guys from these big online comapnies, who used to give genuinely honest reviews back in the 90's these days are nothing more than fraudsters and shills!
Gamespot gave it a 6! You could almost use that score to build a water tight criminal RICO case against them!
If you like RTS games buddy, another seriously underated game and IMO the best RTS ever made which very few people ever even know about is called men of war- or now days men of war assualt squad 2!
Seriously it never received any acclaim or real attention whatsoever(because it wasnt COH) and is without doubt the best RTS ever invented!

Have you seen how the reviews are bought by the company? They literally have game reviewers come into their lounge and spoil them with shit until they get a good rating. FUCK THAT! Although i would love to get payed to review video games it would be a fun job. I also love how broke the rating system is with 1-10. 5 should be an average game, whereas 7 is what is actually average, 5 is shit and anything below three will never be bought. Metacritic has user scores alongside reviewer scores, so if you want reviews then check the user scores out. But imo the only way to know if a game is worth 60 bucks plus another 60 in dlc, is if you rent it or try it out at a friends house. Reviews are to dependant on graphics imo, i can still get friends together and have way more fun playing mario (anything)64, goldeneye or any of those classics that the 2 i mentioned brought to your mind when i brought classic games into the conversation.
That said i am fucking pumped for battlefront 3!!!

Fuck. Can't decide if I should get this or not... Seems like a pretty cool game, considering I do like the movies.

I've got it, but haven't played much of it at all. I think I played for like an hour and didn't have any spooks, and haven't really touched it since.
I heard it was supposed to be kinda like Amnesia: The Dark Descent, and that game scared my face right off of my skull. It ran away to Wyoming. True story.
Maybe I'll fire it up again sometime soon, I've just got so many games to play!

So I bought it and have put in a couple hours maybe. Just got to level 3.
It looks fantastic on my projector. Also, the projector adds a lot of immersion, so I've been pretty on edge out at certain moments.
I know the game is supposed to be really long, and have a shitty ending, but I am going to push through it till the end. I love the old sci-fi aesthetic of the game!

Holy shit, the AI on the Alien is damn near perfect. It has impressed me each time it has killed me. So good.
