First pf tek attempt 1

Hey guys so i just thought i'd share my first pftek experience with you all.
I followed 'Let's grow mushrooms' very closely.
I'm using a cube strain BHT and made two syringes. The syringes had visible spores but not many which worried me but was too late to do anything so I just went ahead with it.
Whilst making the cakes I found the water didn't mix with the vermiculite as well as i'd hoped. I mixed all the verm in (following RR's ratio) 2:1:1 and i slowly mixed in all the water with the verm as best i could. I then added the brf and mixed, it was quite clumpy and in little sections. I know i'm to blame for not mixing it properly but i used the coarse verm (only one i could get at the time) and once i'd finished mixing it, it had the same sort of moisture content that Roadkill showed in the video when he pressed it in his palm so i thought it would be ok. I'm hoping to use the fine verm next time and will get a better consistency with it, thoughts? Would it make a difference?
It was clumpy but i placed the substrate into my half pint jars, then cleaned the rim of the jar with dry paper towel and added a 1-2cm layer of dry verm.
I PC'd the jars at 10psi (my PC's max) for 95 mins and let them cool overnight.
My spore syringe had 10ml of spore solution and i used it all on the 8 half pint jars. I was just following Roadkill how he tilted the jar and looked for the inoculant going onto side of jar. Whilst doing this I didn't precisely measure the amount going in but its a learning curve and i will focus more next time.
Due to my substrate being quite clumpy the inoculant sort of ran straight down the side of the jar, is this normal or because my sub wasn't so fluffy and everything else all the extra room it's ran down the side of the glass?
I used a SAB and all the essential bits required to inoculate and flame sterilised my syringe between each jar along with isopropyl alcohol latex gloves etc.
Does the rust around the GE holes (which i had micropore tape over) have any effect when i put the syringe through the holes into the jar i.e. any possible contams from that? Is rust something i should've tended to after PCing but before inoculating?
The jars are now on my shelf. Sorry they're sideways i can never figure out how to bloody load the bastards off my phone the right way. Tick the box or don't tick the box it always comes out sideways

Thanks for reading guys any input would be greatly appreciated
Cheers

If you can see spores in the solution then there are thousands or more... no worries there.
Solution running down the inside of the jars is normal and fine.
As far as your dry verm layer.... I usually use about 1 to 1-1/2", but that's just me.
1-2cm sounds a little thin. So I would avoid any unnecessary handling so you don't disturb the layer.
Oh yea, and the rust won't hurt a bit. You oughtta see some of the lids and bands I use....lol.

Thanks for your help mate, i had 2 jars when i was running low on substrate that are probably 1.5" so will be interesting to see how they go compared to others and will adjust method for next time
Haha that's good to hear mate, i fkn hate being a noob lol feel so stupid asking so many questions but once i've got it i'll be able to hopefully help others.

Hey mate, na no syringes but i did do trades for prints. I pick fuckloads of ps subs each year so i traded a fair few of them mate and made my own syringes which is fairly simple. Feel free to shoot me an inbox if you would like any further info
