So I cant find the petri dishes that I use to use for shipping.(PP 50mm X 15mm) I have been thinking about different things. I dont like the micro/centrifuge tubes, and i want to be able to send cultures cheap and safely. i could fit 5 of these in the smallest bubble envelope they are Height 0.621 in / 1.577 cm/ 15.77MM Diameter 2.37 in / 6.02 cm/60.19 mm 1 oz Clear PP Hinged- high clarity http://www.containerandpackaging.com/item/M008C what do you guys think? would a screw top be better? i would put parafilm on everything anyway. These are fully Pressure cookable meaning i could re use them and i could also fill them and then pc the agar in them.

You could use the 15ml centrifuge tubes that people use for storage slants. Probably could fit more of those in the smallest bubble envelope.

i hate them with a passion. Your telling me you wouldn't prefer an entire lil dish colonized? Dont get me wrong they serve a purpose and work great for storage. But its not what i wana send out.

Hell yea I would. It would save me the trouble of slanting for storage later lol. The tubes might take up less space too. Plus even though the PP plates are technically reusable, you could only run your blade through them so many times to take wedges before they'd be all scratched up on the bottom.

Plus the hinge seems like a pita. I like to slide the covers off/on so I can keep the plate as covered as possible when taking wedges. FWIW, I dislike tiny tubes to. That's why I switched my storage slants to the bigger 50ml PP slants, but those just wouldn't be practical or efficient for shipping cultures. Now that I think about it more from the shipping aspect, these plates actually make a little more sense.

twist top would be way nicer. if you're not concerned about clarity you can just use a little dab container as a small petri dish silicone will take the PC and you can parafilm that if you're really worried.
