If you can't keep drugs out of supermax prisons, how in the world are you going to keep them off the street? Perfect example of how the drug war is unwinnable. We can either spend trillions of dollars fighting the drug war until the end of time or legalize and regulate. Spend trillions and still lose the war, or legalize and make trillions in taxes. Simple choice in my eyes.

Well spoken. Strong argument.

Some guards are in it for the profit, and some guards are coerced by threats of violence from gangs to them and their families.

Scott was a guard at the state prison in Lancaster, northeast of Los Angeles. Prosecutors say in 2012 and 2013, Scott smuggled in heroin, marijuana, cellphones and other contraband to members of his gang, or distributed it after the goods were thrown over a prison fence.
Authorities say Scott was a member of a Pasadena street gang and worked for the state corrections department for about a decade.
