Cakes not fruiting..what went wrong
    #21340318 - 02/27/15 09:00 PM (9 years, 10 months ago)

hey guys what went wrong here?

I built a SGFC using a 1/4 drill bit..drilled plenty of holes about 2 inches apart..i put the chamber on top of little jars so air can come up through the bottom..I let my cakes fully colonize and let them consolidate for 2-3 weeks before I noticed a few small pins then i birthed it right away. Dunked for 24 hours..rolled in verm..wet and drained perlite..misted and fanned 3-5 times day. Still no signs of fruiting and its been over a week

what's going on guys?

No no. You would need whats called a hygrometer and it reads the relative humidity. Tho, with a SGFC, if you added enough wet perlite and the sgfc was constructed right then rH will always be spot on and you would not have a need for a hygrometer.
At any rate, as long as there is enough then you are set.
Does it smell like fresh shrooms in there?

Personally i would just be patient, sometimes warmer temps can create pins quicker but in your case w lower temps and can take a little bit more time but the fruits tend to be denser but grow a lil slower so id keep an open mind. Im on another run of cakes and this one has seemed to be taking a lil bit longer and my temps this time are cooler so we'll see and ill keep you updated. good luck and keep me posted. cheers and Goodluck! -TheLostBoys

The chamber doesn't really smell like shrooms to answer your question..I'm misting the sides of the chamber only..and should I re-dunk would that make any difference? The cakes seem to have lost some weight..

whatever you do don't be really excessive with the spray bottle

you said earlier you thought they were dry

keep doing what you're doing and give it another week

Believe you should be misting your cakes also ,not just your walls. And I've had cakes not fruit for a month this winter with temps close to yours so just be patient and keep misting and fanning.

What worries me is that you say they consolidated 2 to 3 weeks and had pins forminv when you birthed them those pins should have matured im a week or so.

What variety are these? PE can take a long time like that.

Photos?

Just keep misting and fanning, hopefully they should get going any day now man

My first pins from my first PFTek grow took about 10 days to show up, that was 1 pin.  The next 4 or 5 didn't show up until day 13 or so.  Hang in there!

Only mist the cakes, never the walls.....the walls will not grow, nor do they lose moisture from evaporation, but the cakes do.
