It sort of has a hint of mint or spearmint but also a sweet nutty scent. I actually prefer it to the scent of cubensis and if they taste better than cubensis I may start growing pans exclusively. It is very hard to nail that scent down and I'm known for having a very keen sense of smell. I'm working on the description but I've just started growing these myself and have had a chance to smell only about 12 qts of it so far. Chances are you're alright as long as the grain is fully colinized. This may ease your mind, I know it did mine. Check out tmethyl's description and ignore pussyfart's ignorance.

Awesome bro I thought knot. I'm not wrried about it being contamd I kno its clean but I wanted to know what other peeps thought it smelld like.ur rite its hard to pin down the scent its a mixture of Known aromas but can't seem to identify ..for sure theres some kind of mintiness.but anyway its a way kind smell and I can definitely get use to it. I just spawned to a shitload of hpoo/straw mix sub and can't wait to get these babies printable. My goal is to have my preferred vendors entire sporelist in my rolodex of prints by this upcoming harvest season .its going to b a challenge but I know I can do it. I've spawned all five of my new varities within the last two weeks and all is progressing feverishly especially the pan cams they absolutely devour a substrate in record speedy fashion.the five I'm working on are the pan tropicalis florida....AA+ which I am so stoked to see those little gray caps...the escondido mexico.... the psilo cambodian and the pan cambodginiensis thai goliath. Needless to say I'm PCing and pastrisng my fukn ass off. But I can't think of a better way to spend a winter. Ill be posting pics of the progress giving special attentiin to the pans seeing how tthese are a frst for me and I'm gonna need some assist from the pros

Good luck on your print challenge. Yeah I'm currently working with the pan cambodginiensis thai goliath also. I've spawned 4 trays with 3 quarts of oats to 2 qts of straw pellets/hpoo/coir/verm/gypsum each. The first tray is four days in and has recovered quite well. I'd say with the amount of spawn used it will probably be no more than 3 more days to reach 100%. At which time I will be casing with pasteurized jiffy mix. What temp are you letting them cambo goliath's colonize at?

Smell is a matter of opinion and as long as it doesn't smell foul and it looks healthy I doubt there is anything to worry about. When Tmethyl responds with a description like this "Pan mycelium is similar to cubensis in smell, but the pan mycelium has a sharper more nutty smell, it's striking when you smell it. It gets your attention". You then can understand why someone would question it after first sniff. Couple that with the fact that pan cam grows are very scarce around mush cult due to the fact that those species don't cater to the typical noob and you can start to understand why we get questions like the op and responses like yours and pussyfart's on the link I posted earlier.

I've been playin with temps for pan cambos and they seem to love 75 degrees F on rye grass seed on the moister side rather than a bit dryer. Hopefully they will continue to do the speedy gonzalez on their new poopstrate

The temperature in my room fluctuates between 70*F and 81*F and haven't seen much of a difference in growth rate. I read of someone fruiting them in much lower temps than that which I thought was interesting. Thanks for spending the time to answer my questions. I'm definitely looking forward to your successful pics.
