how to fruit trays??

So these 2 trays were spawned from a quart of rye to manure about 5 days ago. Should be 100% in the next couple days . Any ideas on how to fruit them? Don't believe there's enough head room to use the covers that are on them now, and I don't have room in my sgfc. Any ideas would be appreciated . thanks

I would if I had room . Surely there's another way? I guess I could stack some cakes to make room maybe?

or just fruit them how they are now with those tray lids on. when you're home take them off and mist. semi open air

it probably fits loose enough that it gets enough air through the rim. you could just make it fit looser if you're worried.

Cool its fits pretty tight when its pushed down on so I guess I could just set it on . Only problem is there's only 3-4 inches of head room so if I get any big guys I'll have to leave the lid off at that point. Which I'm fine with

by the time they're that big they're not going to dry out so fast. right now you want pins and to support pins.

Some people case, some don't. A casing is not necessary for most cube varieties. I think PE and possibly GT may benefit with a casing.
It also depends on the environment. It is super dry here this winter so I "late case" my trays and monos. Usually with coir/verm since it's easy to work with.

If you plan on removing the lid i would case it.
If the casing layer is misted frequently enough you could probably fruit it without the lid from the beginning, just make sure its fully colonized then remove the lid.

That was what I was thinking. Since I will probably have to leave the lid off(hopefully if the fruits get big enough) that I would case it when its 100%, then put it right into fruiting.

Good idea! Most people put trays into fruiting conditions immediately after casing to prevent overlay and to encourage a heavy pin-set.

overlay doesn't happen with cubes. open air trays don't need a casing layer but one certainly helps you not have to babysit it as much

I fruit mine with the lid on. I just simply burn a hole on the very top center of the lid for FAE. As the warm air rises and escapes the hole at the top, it pulls fresh air from the imperfection where the lid connects to the pan. It's best to case them if fruiting this way.
