A person I know has a mushroom grow going on and cant get the humidity on his higrometer to go right... it says like 77%, his room temp is about 74 during the day and 60 at night, he has a shot gun fruiting tub in a tub with water, heaters, and air pump stones, raised by quart jars, with about 2 inches from bottom of the top tub to the water, hes got a ceramic heater set up but it drys the air out wayyyy to much any suggestions on on what might be a better route? he's also using his bathroom in a motorhome and the bath tub as the fruiting area

dont do TIT it fucks grows up... if u buy a space heater and put it near your grow that would be a better idea.... it drys out the air a bit but if you mist and fan more often you will be alright... sorry to be so rude but your friends set up sounds awful. get rid of the tit... also how would u even add holes to the side of the tub if its in another tub... probably restricting fae..

Throw that whole contraption out!! Drill holes in a tub...every two inches all six sides...put four or five inches of wet perlite in the bottom of it...put your cakes on top of the perlite on a small piece of foil...elelevate it up off the ground but be sure the bottom holes are clear to draw air up through the perlite.
A few questions....how warm would the room be without the space heater? If its 65 or below put the heater as far away ( other side of room...I realize its a small bathroom)as possible. If its 65 or above leave it alone. Buy a cool mist humidifier for thirty bucks....that will raise the humidity in the room to a point that the chamber won't dry out so quick....LET THE SHROOMS GROW....they are wily little shits...they know how to grow on their own...they've been doing it for thousands if years.
Thats a super simplified rundown of the basics...but that's really all there is too it

not until you remove the standing water and all the electrical shit! use the sgfc as a proper sgfc, this way is just whack and counterproductive.

Whats wrong with TIT? I have a couple that I bust out when my furnace is on the fritz, it can get quite cold well below sixty.
But I only use it for spawn.
Any way you can set your thermostat to hit 65 at night? 74 during the day/60 at night is probably just fine to get by without any incubation, use a TIT for spawn during colonization if you have to but once you mix your trays your house should be fine to fruit in.
Last summer I was fruiting in an attic that could hit above 100 during the day and 50 at night. Tubs fruited just fine.
Build a proper SGFC for the trays you have now. But next grown spawn to full size or mini mono tubs instead, you will have much much less hassle as are pretty much set and forget..

You can drop the friend thing man it wont protect you legally at all.
Water droplets on the mycelium are a good thing and you want it at all times. Its the constant evaporation off the substrate that initiates nice pin sets.
You don't want them soggy no but you do want to mist and fan as often as you can. In a properly built SGFC 3x a day is suitable
Really though, if you are looking for low maitinemce.. and SGFC is pretty low maitinence, next time spawn to mono tubs. No misting, no fanning, no contraptions. Just a substrate in a tub. You have to adjust the polyfill once in a while but thats all

hey guys I did what you said went back to just pulling the sgfc out of the other tub... Im not sure what drove me to wanna experiment lol, but anyway thanx again I put my space heater on aswell and put the little ceramic bulb in the picture up above the sgfc, it drys it out a little faster but its not a bad thing in my opinion I feel like the evaporation being sped up will speed up pinning, which also started and is going nuts... the Golden Teach variety is so far the leader out of that, equador, pan cyan, amazon, thai ksss, cambodian, and brazilian my tray wasnt spread very evenly btw either and it seems to be pinning evenly for the most part, maybe it has something to do with the evaporation rate not sure, oh yea took all the other wires out of there too oO lol TO MUCH WEED SMOKE BE CLOUDIN MY MIND-.-.... I got pics if anyones interested btw
