I just had a few questions on this jar.

Namely, how colonized does it look?

How much longer should I give it?

Aside from soaking and throwing in the SGFC, are there any other things I should do to it?

A) Why'd you open it if you didn't think it was fully colonized?

B) What am I looking at? Grains?

It looks bacterial but a little bacteria never hurt nobody.

It is Ps. Cyanescens on a blend of BRF/Verm and a potting soil mix.
Plus I'm an idiot and prone to poking things before they are ready.
I'm not patient enough sometimes for this hobby.

That's ready to fruit. In the future though cut out the soil mix. Doesn't help. We use soil mixes for casing layers which are supposed to be non-nutritious.

I figured the wood lover would benefit from it.

Potting soil? Did it have wood in it?

No wood but it is a blend of peat moss, vermiculite, coir pith and lime. And some dirt I guess. I've been trying to experiment with different mixes for the ps. cyans in addition to wood chips.
I at least have cubes going in addition to my doomed wood lover projects. I realize the soil is not needed but hey, science right?

Peat moss and lime are casing material and are known for not having nutrients so I don't think that helped :/.

I'm not 100% sure but I've never seen a cyan grow going like this.

Are you thinking Pan cyans? I haven't seen anybody doing what I'm doing with Psilocybe Cyanescens and believe me, I've hunted this and other sites. I don't have much to compare it to.

No,

I know what species you're talking about . Peat and lime are still casing material. The Cyan grows I've seen have been on straight grain to a wood substrate.

Like so:

Yup I agree that they have. I've been watching that thread and a few others. The wood chips I colonized were put into pots with a casing layer and have been outside for about a week.

I'm just trying to see what's possible, I've gotten them to colonize a basic PF tek mix more than once now. Wood chips are easy, I still have more myc on agar than I know what to do with so I just keep trying different things.

Agar has allowed me to just keep playing. I like seeing what happens and I don't mind not seeing fruits if it means I learned something. Soon enough I'll have a few normal grows done (Treasure Coast and GT)and my agar work has gotten to a stable point.

I still totally accept that what I'm doing might not work for the cyans but nobody got anywhere by not trying.

Thanks for confirming for me. I was pretty sure it was done last weekend but to be safe gave it the extra week. We'll see what happens I guess.

*fingers crossed*
