Self-Authority

" First of all, authority in so-called spiritual matters is really nonspiritual. I think that must be clear and must be understood deeply. There is no authority in man?s endeavor to find out if there is that ultimate truth. The authority of a priest, of all the religions, is based on hearsay, on propaganda, on conditioning the mind to believe in certain saviors, masters, and so on. Because, one has to be a light to oneself and you cannot possibly light your light from another.? -- J. Krishnamurti

A guide perhaps, but not an authority. There's a significant difference.

you're right. a guide insinuates help, while an authority insinuates control.

With a guide, you're still assuming that the guide knows the real truth.
With a guide, you may easily find faith, but who's to say if you'll find truth?

you have to rely on your intuition for that one.
a tip is a good guide is wise, selfless, more experienced, and knows everything inside your head. But you are right, that doesn't mean he's not a vampire or a misguided kook.

A guide, ideally, should only provide raw ideas for assessment.
On the receiving end, you sould never accept something as Truth until you have had time to decided based on the evidence.
Why anyone would believe something they are told to believe is beyond me

Spirituality is a metaphor of what may will be. Your alphabet cannot show me alpha until "we" realize. Two animals may fuck tonight by what nature feels is right.

People generally believe what "they are told to believe" because of the conditioning that goes with it.
I now regret letting my mother-in-law take my son to church during his formative years.
