Would a wood log work for building Ps. Azure/Cyan/Sub myc
    #2133716 - 11/25/03 12:12 AM (13 years, 20 days ago)

I was thinking If you could use the straw log tek idea for building myc for woodlovers. Like doing the same thing as making a straw log but with hardwood chips (so aptly calling it a "wood log"). Would it work? Would it be enough air exchange for building myc? This would probably be good for making bulk patches.

Would it work?

I dont see why it wouldnt...

You usually want to use large bags for the spawn run of the woodchips to be innoculated into the larger outdoor patch. I dont see much difference in using it in a log version than a square version.

When I mean woodlog, I mean polly warp with wood chips inside. Not dead stumps.

Stumps will work if they are fresh cut and in an environment that is condusive to mushroom cultivation,ie, a raparian habitat. It would be worth the time and effort to make plug spawn with the P.sub and explore the species ability to grow on pine.

I think it would work for spawning, yet i think it would have to be cased indoors or buried outdoors to fruit.
