Would filter patches made from dust mask, you know the white ones that cover you mouth and nose, work on my SHIP lids until I can synthetic filter disks to replace them?

I doubt it. I'd be more inclined to use a tyvek shipping envelope in a pinch vs' a dust mask.

Damn... I do have polyfill. Would it be better to remove the dust mask patches and fill the holes with poly?
I have 14 jars worth of bird seed drying as we speak.

For sure! Poly works brilliantly. I guess if you already have your lids done with a chunk of mask, it's really up to you if you want to take the chance or not, but as far as I recall I've not heard anyone promoting the use of that medium as a filter, so I can't say for sure with first hand knowledge. I do know that poly as a filter has worked for many people for many years. Looking at the specs, I see some claim to filter up to .03 micron up to 95% of the time, so

I have no idea what the specs are these masks, I bought them dollar general and they had nothing in the package. 5 for $1 so I don't think they will cut. I'm playing it safe and filling the holes with poly.

I'm a huge fan of employing dollar store tek into mushroom cultivation, but that's tough one. Part of me feels they would work, maybe double stacked for insurance. Then again, I'd be more likely to grab a $1 stuffed bear and rip its guts out to make lid filters. In any event, you can't go wrong playing it safe.

Yeah, I went and picked up another case of jars, wild bird seed, silicone, and dust masks all from dollar general last night. Lol. I'm just glad i had polyfill on hand. Didn't have time to run into town and get some.
I have to get 14 jars pressure cooked by 1 pm, its almost 10 am now. And have about 45 minutes on the first set of jars in the PC .

Just run to the pharmacy (dont leave the pressure cooker on..) and grab some micropore tape. Cost about 3 bucks. Never had contamination when using this. Depending on size of hole from needle innocculation, i might or might not re-apply micropore tape over the hole. Its perfectly good for WBS bulks.
On LC purpose-jars i just inject one hole, and recover it, also tape around the sides of the lid, and the part on top where the ring meets the lid. Slows down speed of initial myc growth, but its less WBS than a standard jar, and contamination in an LC is not an option, the GE rate is heavilly reduced because you basically sealed every possible source of outside air off with micropore tape. But it works

I'm just using polyfill for now. I may run and get some for my next go after these jars are done. Didn't have time to run to town and get any. The last of my jars are in the PC now and I'm barely gonna have time to get these to go the full 90 minutes before I gotta leave for work.
And I've tried making several LC's from MS syringes before I had a pressure cooker, and the all failed miserably. The either stalled out before any significant growth or were contaminated.
Is it easier to make an LC with a pressure cooker rather than using steam sterilization?
