How bad is it for cakes to all tumble?
    #21332792 - 02/26/15 12:16 PM (9 years, 10 months ago)

Hi everyone, I just have a quick question on how hardy the cakes are. I accidentally bumped the FC and all the cakes tumbled over...all the pinning has been from underneath the cakes so far for some reason. The pins don't look harmed though.

Thanks in advance!

Mushrooms are funny critters. They are extremely sensitive to some things and incredibly resilient to others. You'll see some folks here grow mushrooms in some horrible conditions, and with some pretty buckled up looking subs and they can still pull out fruits when all is said and done. That said, you'll be ok with a bump and roll.

Thanks guys!
What about the pinning underneath the cakes? I've done research on it and it looks like it's because humidity is higher near the bottom and you can't flip it because it'll cause aborts. Is there any better solution than waiting for them to grow and knocking it over?

Thanks again!

They'll be fine,

When they grow they'll lift the cake. It's actually kind of cool. If you have bottom pinning then leave it be and mist like you would regularly.

Do you clear the foil of water? Sometimes water drips down onto the foil and if you don't clear it that causes bottom pinning.
