There may be benefits to using straw mats convenience-wise but compared to the cost of an entire bale? Idk.
To my understanding most experienced growers macerate the straw to 0.5-2" pieces so if the mats are braided together it may cause mixing problems.
Great shape for a casing though! I wish coir came in something like that

It would be fun to do outdoor beds with that. oyster mats would be cool. But 99% waste of money unless you cant get a bail of straw.

I saw another thread about EZ straw this week, although it was smaller bales I think.
Id check it out see if the convience is worth the price! I live in the city so straw and h poo are harder to find.

They can grow enormous on straw logs from the photos Ive seen man! I have a lot of straw in the basement, maybe Ill do a straw log grow or a basket.
But do you need a GH to fruit them? Or just open air with lots of misting?

I bet a few pieces of PVC pipe to make a small frame and a clear trash bag would work brilliantly over a laundry basket to keep humidity in. Could even tune it by making a few slits in the bag for FAE. I might have to give this a go with some oysters.

I like the PVC pipe idea, that and some thick mil clear plastic drop cloth like what I use to line my tub would rock
Ive seen logs kinda rolled up with the dropcloth before I think

I thought damn that could be nice for an outdoor plot. And i did wonder how well it would colonize.

They sell straw there? I have some farms near me but usually you can only get hay. Are they normal sized bales?
