hows pic 3 look? I know the pics aren't the best but what areas would you select for transfer? This will give me an idea on what to do with the rest of the plates. Also, they're all from a nice Maz cluster.. so clone material.
There's 8 more in the ol' fridge lol.

looks great! i would take transfers from any sectors you can spot...the goal is to have a few isolates to find your winners

can you see any sectors? This is the furthest I've gotten towards an isolate since I started agar. Maybe on plate 4 you could give me pointers. plate 5 too. I see at 10 o'clock.. that ones easy to see though. Any tips would be appreciated.
I've looked at stro's guide. But i think this would make things easier since this is what i'm working with.

From what I can see, it looks like you can't go wrong transferring from the leading edge from any clock direction on those cultures. Take two or three from each one and let them grow out, make sure to post updates, you should have several mono cultures to fruit out from that point. I recommend using real plates in the future, they aren't very expensive and well worth the clarity.

Im watching this too cause Im learning isolation as well. How many transfers are these?
I have some plates, maybe 13 or 14 transfers in that are just starting to show sectors
Im still working on those but theyve mostly been living in the fridge.
I changed strategy Im working from clones as a starting point. But the plates from spore are still a side project

these are 3-4 transfers from clones (mazetapec). 5 if you include the actual cloning. It's much faster/less work than isolating from spore. I have one from a spore to grain then single grain to agar that i've been working on since Dec. that's gotta be 12 transfers deep. I always take the fastest growth. Not for any reason other than speed.
think it was 2 clone plates... then 4 samples from each... so 8 plates... then 2 samples from those 8.. so 16 plates then 2 samples again from each... pics then post lol... took 2 samples from the ones in the pics... then threw some chunks on poms... hopefully the scrubbies aren't toxic.
so 3 transfers from clone it seems.
there's 8 more in the fridge and 4 other 2nd transfer plates from an orissa clone. I do about 16 or so transfers a week
