EZ-Straw Seeding Mulch With Tack, 500-Sq. Ft. Coverage $13.99 Ez straw, 2.5 cuft, 500 sqft coverage, seeding mulch, with tack, prevents soil erosion & seed from washing away, speeds up germination, watering less, biodegrades, no mess to clean up, 16" x 10" x 24", bale.
Not sure if tack is beneficial (sounds like some kind of glue) but for that price I could get 4 COMPRESSED bales (Picture looked like it was loose)...Im In the right geo location i guess.
As far as doing it yourself i've seen lawnmowers, weed wackers in a container, and (because I have one) chipper shredder...oh and scissors
I guess if I had to use scissors I might buy it BECAUSE of the labor that would be involved...and if straw was high priced in my area, and unatanable such as in the city.

haha, cool thank you for sharing, Jamonmyco. I like your user name. I just picked up a 10 pound bale of wheat straw today for my oyster fruitings for 8 dollars. Onward and upward!

Somebody came up with a TEK a few years ago about puting the head section of a weedwhacker through a tote lid and reconecting the motor and upper part of the shaft an then just go to town on the straw.

Yea, that was RR. He developed that tek due to living in an apartment while simultaneously growing Oyster mushrooms for a profit.
I have expanded on his straw shredding tek transferring the method over to how I shred horse manure. Next stop is going to be a small scale cement mixer to mix dry substrate materials inside of.

Hey man ...are you using the straw in monos? Or GH? I tried running straw in a few monos and it always contaminated. even when I just added a little bit . I always properly pasteurise. Just never had any luck on monos with it.
