Too much humidity??
    #499077 - 12/23/01 12:33 AM (22 years, 3 months ago)

Is it possible to have too much humidity? What signs occur if they're is too much? A friend birthed 2 cakes into a terrarium wed. night, no pins have formed as of sat. night. Humidity is extremely high!!! Could it be too much? Thanks!!!

No there's no condensation forming on the cakes. My friend examined em last night and they aren't dryed out but their not really moist either. Just kinda right in between. Temp has been at 70-72. Could that be the problem? Thanks!!!

Is there anyway to get the humidity down in my terrarium? No matter what I do it stays at 96-98%. And how do you save a cake from overlay?

i think i've failed on my first case.

Assuming that you are using perlite just decrease the amount of perlite, or alternatively place less hydrated perlite in the terrarium.

Cool. I scooped several cups of perlite out; the humidity dropped to 88% and the temp stabalized at 76 degrees...and i've seen several pins from that almost ruined cake.

thanks for your help!

When they're right in between give it another hour and mist.

Fruiting is 70-75. Not 78.

Your humidity sounds perfect...

Overlay is bullshit, you will not see it on cakes.

Take pics please.

Stop the misinformation.
