Early Pinning help??

So both of my 1 pint jars are now fully colonized and are in their consolidation week! I plan on dunking and rolling them on sunday or monday after i get back from New york, however, one of them has sprouted a little pin. I ignored it at first, but i can now see that it has gotten bigger since i last saw it - this morning. At this point it is about 3/4cm long. Should i leave it in there until i dunk and roll or what? I'm afraid that if this is happening now, there will be a bunch of pins when i birth the cakes on sunday/monday

I'd dunk starting now, roll in verm early in the morning and hydrate the shit out of the perlite, pop 'em in and check on things when you come back. Five days shouldn't be enough to dry out cakes in a properly set up SGFC, and any fruits shouldn't reach maturity in that time and if they do, meh.

How much longer does the other have in its consolidation period?

the other one will be done consolidating sunday. but keep in mind these are 1 pint jars so the whole "consolidation time period" of 1 week could be all mixed up because they aren't half pint jars

nothing. there appears to be a TINY red dot at one spot if i look close enough but it could just be a spot where the substrate touches the condensation on the side of the jar (there is, and always has been a LOT of condensation in these jars ever since they've been colonizing since i used over twice as much solution as i should've in each jar)

I could go either way on that one. Personally I guess I'd put it in with the other one just to keep it company. Put them pretty close together.

ok. another thing i guess i should mention is that the one that does have a pin, seems to be much less colonized than the one that doesn't. it finished covering the jar first, but the other one is a much more solid white color, and is more difficult to see the substrate with. i guess that probably doesn't matter though if the one that seems to be less densely colonized already has a fruit growing

these 4 are the jar that i've thought to be more "densely" colonized:

these four are the jar that i thought wasn't colonized as densely, but has the pin (visible on the bottom of the 1st pic):

also don't worry about some of the darker/discolored spots, it's just where substrate is touching the side or is wet from the condensation. trust me, i've checked every day for bacteria

I'd do 5 tomorrow, and yeah, you should be just fine. Make sure your SGFC is elevated.

is 24 hours just a generally used safe amount of time or is that always overkill? also i'm planning on having the SGFC on top of a shelf underneath a sky light, will this be a good location?

I've never dunked for 24 hours, and in my opinion it's overkill, yeah.
Yeah, that location sounds really nice, as long as the tub is elevated above the shelf by putting something beneath each corner.

ok, and there's currently snow on top of the sunroof but as long as SOME light gets through it'll be good, right? the pin that's in the jar is growing towards where the sunroof is, and the pin showed up after the snow came, so i'm assuming it'll be fine
NOTE: the lid of the jar is NOT transparent though will this be an issue? if so should it be somewhere where the light would come in through the side?

awesome. and one last double check thing, is it true that you should rotate the SGFC every day or two so that all sides get the same light?
