Does sober mind = more powerful trip?

So I recently took about 4 grams of shrooms with my friends. It was a very powerful experience but I wasn't seeing as many visuals as my friends were seeing. I only had mild hallucinations so I took more shrooms about the middle of my trip. It seemed like I needed way more shrooms than usual to really get crazy visuals. (I did not have a tolerance to shrooms before this) I smoke weed/dabs on a daily basis and I thought that was why I wasn't tripping very hard visually. I'm thinking that quitting weed for good would really make my psilocybin experiences a lot more profound and visual. What do you guys think?

Yes, that's exactly what I have experienced so far. If you get into the trip too stoned, it will be softend, flattend and possibly not as exiting. Weed alone can be very psychedelic at high doses, but as a daily smoker this ability gets lost because of tolerance. Don't smoke for a week and you'll be mindblown by a quarter of a joint.
If you smoke daily and don't wanna quit for sure: Just don't smoke throughout the day you wanna trip. The coming up will be a bit intensified, and if you then smoke a joint / bonghit right before the peak you really have to fasten you seatbelt.
- Smoking weed daily also reduces the ability to dream, or at least you don't remember them in the morning. Stop smoking weed and after just a few days you will be overwhelmed by very visual dreams.

Yeah Weed is becoming a negative habit for me so I'm going to quit for a few weeks so my tolerance can go down and my psychedelic trips will be more magical. Thanks for the input.

Before I say anything I never really have "visuals" on my trips, just general color enhancement etc, though I've never done more than an 1/8th of mushrooms, visuals are less than 1% of what a trip means to me, in fact I don't even care if I have any visuals or not, I never do anyway unless I want to focus on them, I think there's a lot of better things to do on a trip than staring at morphing visuals. I prefer my dose @ 3 grams of cubensis, not too overwhelmingly strong and enough to come out of the experience feeling great and full of insights.
Weed is also a negative habit for me atm, but never has my daily smoking reduced the effectiveness of my trips, I don't want trips any stronger than what they are! I can barely even handle an 1/8th of cubes without getting my ass completely kicked.
The one thing I realized about marijuana and mushrooms though is that they don't work together for me, I find the marijuana will completely shoot me into the mushroom high being much higher than I originally planned with the dose of my mushrooms, it always induces some otherwise unnoticeable paranoia that is amplified on the trip, and makes me forget parts of the experience and overall blurs the trip in with the marijuana high resulting in a lessened experience overall, coming away with less insights etc.
I've been a daily smoker ever since my first mushroom trip but I will never smoke during trips as for the unwanted effects, I like my psychedelic experiences to be as clear and fulfilling as possible not blurred or losing thoughts with marijuana included into the mix.
I don't think marijuana outside of tripping has any negative or positive effects on my trip, it definitely does not reduce the effects of my mushroom trips from daily smoking. Just don't smoke on your trips if that's what you're doing.

I trip about 10x harder when I stop smoking for a month or so. Maybe marijuana - a mild psychedelic - has a strange cross-tolerance with psychedelics that hasn't really been investigated?

I agree that the trips are not all about the visuals. I love the thought processes that one goes through when under the influence of a psychedelic. The visuals are one of my favorite parts of the experience. I take high doses to achieve these crazy visual states that I love.

Weed intensifies just about any other substance you take.
