Can you over-dry mushrooms?

Was wondering because all of my mushrooms weighed a lottt less after drying & desiccant chamber. like 7% maybe of their wet weight. for instance, harvested 55 wet grams off of 3 cakes then after drying weighted 3.6 grams.

No. The amount of water will vary.

,
I left mushrooms in a dehydrator for 24 hours once and ate them because I thought they were fucked.
Boy was I wrong.
Psilocybin doesn't break down until the 300s, most dehydrators only reach 160. Dry for 8-10 hours and you're good, anything over the 10 hour mark unless they're fat is overkill but I routinely leave them for 12 while I sleep.

Okay, I didn't use any heat or dehydrator to dry them. I only was able to harvest small clusters at a time, I didn't have a huge amount to dry, so I let them fan dry for only 12 hours then desiccant chamber for 12 hrs. Now I really know the meaning of 'cracker dry'. Looking back now the few times I have bought mushies in the past some years there was a lot of water weight left in those suckers cause mine are so dry they just break apart...
Thanks for the answers.

Food dehydrator was a great investment. As taGyo said, 160F for at least 10 hours is a good rule of thumb.
How are you storing them once dry?

Maybe I will invest in one of those when I get the hang of this a little better. This is my first grow ever so I am still a HUGE NOOB, I have taken up many hobbies & learned new things in my life & this by far I have to say is the most confusing/challenging because I never know if things are right on track & going like they should be-I pretty much just have to wait it out to see. I am determined to get good at this though...
I never have large amounts to dry at a time (why I just use a fan & desiccant chamber.), I am not sure even if my first flush is done yet. I haven't dunked some of the cakes that have put out mature fruits because they are still kind of heavy in weight leading me to believe that if I re-dunk they will just get waterlogged. So far I have harvested only 11 grams dry from like 6 or 7 cakes. (The wet weight of that was 15 grams.)
Once I get them "cracker dry" I store them in a ziploc baggie & suck out mostly all the air with a straw (poor man vacuum sealing.) then place them in my dresser where it is dark.
