Preserving Mushrooms in Maple Syrup

After reading about preserving mushrooms in honey I was wondering if the same could be done with maple syrup. Honey never spoils and maple syrup takes a very long time to spoil so that is one down side but I see a few upsides to it including personal taste preference.
Any thoughts? I couldn't find any records of it being done before.

Maple syrup will mold its all sugar with no preservatives honey wrks becuz it contains natural antibiotics and bacterials produced from the bee itself. By adding a fungus to the syrup I fear the spoiling will be increased dramatically

Well I think it would definitely have a shorter shelf life than honey but since blue honey has such a long shelf life I figured it would still be worth it. Sugar itself IS the preservative, honey does have a lot of pollen and plant matter in it but most commercial honey is heavily filtered to the point where there is no pollen. I figure with its high sugar content it'd be good for keeping them?
It would be the best breakfast food ever created.. Not to mention the possibility of maple hard candies.. maple drinks? Maple sugar is tastier than honey IMO.

This is why I love shroomery.org lol, I had the exact same question...
I live in Canada and make my maple syrup every year and will have a few jugs of maple syrup hopefully in the next month.
I just watched a mushroom drying video on youtube where this pretty chick is using honey to preserve them and instantly thought of maple syrup.
Now that the idea is in my head I'm totally going to do it... my mushrooms don't last that long anyway and it sounds so tasty.
...although it would be cool to find out if there is potential for long term storage as it's alot easier to harvest maple syrup than honey for me(bees suck), and I personally find maple syrup tastier.
