No pinning-- Would you be worried yet?
    #21317305 - 02/23/15 11:44 AM (9 years, 10 months ago)

I have 9 PF tek cakes colonized with the Golden Teacher strain sitting in a fruiting chamber.  I mist 4-5 times a day, have a 12/12 light cycle, fan once a day, and keep the temperature around 75 degrees.  2 cakes have been in there 17 days, 3 cakes for 15 days, and 4 of them have only been in there for 7 days.

I did not leave the cakes in the jars for a full week after they reached 100% colonization, which I think could be part of why they are taking a while to begin to pin.  (Rookie mistake, I know, but they were out of the jars by the time I read that I should leave them for a week...)

I'm not particularly concerned, as I've read that taking 2 or more weeks to pin is not uncommon, and particularly since I didn't allow a week of consolidation before moving them into the chamber, I was expecting them to take anywhere from a week to a month.  However, my partner in crime (who has also never done this) is freaking the fuck out thinking that they aren't gonna grow, and it's getting me a bit nervous too.  Thoughts?  Should I be concerned, and is there anything I can do other than be patient?

You should fan every time you mist, evaporation is a pinning trigger.

And yes, since you didn't let jars consolidate for a week it will more than likely take approximately a week longer to pin. So it could take up to 3 weeks.

I have heard GT's may take a little longer in general. However, I have not grown them so I can't say for sure. Just going off other's experience as far as time.

Other than that, not much more I can tell you.

Some pictures of your set up would really help as well. There is no way to tell if something else may be going on without seeing the cakes and your FC.

He stated the temp.

I would fan every time I mist. Let them dry out a bit too, don't just mist all day if they don't need it.
